Urgently invest in transportation projects connecting with Dong Thap province

After nearly 30 years of establishment, thanks to the attention of all levels, the appearance of Tan Hung district is increasingly developing with a fairly synchronous transportation system from the district center to the communes. However, with the characteristics of the low-lying district of Dong Thap Muoi with many interlaced rivers and canals, transportation still faces certain difficulties, affecting the local socio-economic development.

In particular, in the communes of Vinh Dai, Vinh Buu, Vinh Chau A, Vinh Chau B, Hung Dien, Hung Dien B, there are many large canals connecting trade with Dong Thap province such as 79, Ngang, Duong Van Duong, 01/5, Tan Thanh - Lo Gach, Cai Co and many other small canal systems. Associating with waterway trade along the canals are roads connecting traffic, which still faces many difficulties due to the lack of synchronous upgrading of roads and lack of connecting bridges.

According to Chairman of Tan Hung District People's Committee - Huynh Thanh Hien, in recent years, the District Party Committee and People's Committee have spent a lot of investment resources, combined with social mobilization to build rural bridges, concretize, and expand roads to create more convenient travel conditions for people. However, the district's resources are still limited, so the current road and bridge system mainly meets the basic travel needs of people, especially bridges and roads connecting Vinh Buu commune, Tan Hung district with Dong Thap province. This is also an urgent need and concern that over the years, the government and people of Tan Hung district have not been able to realize.

“Currently, the district is striving to implement key traffic projects such as DT819, Song Trang canal road and a number of transition projects and investment preparation projects. However, to create a breakthrough and promote socio-economic development, the district hopes the province will soon consider investing in traffic projects connecting Tan Hung district and neighboring districts of Dong Thap province, especially Hoa Binh - Vinh Chau B bridge, Vinh Buu - Truong Xuan bridge as well as completing Provincial Road 837B (the remaining section) to meet the transport and trade needs of people and connect Dong Thap Muoi sub-region" - Mr. Huynh Thanh Hien said.

Focus on implementing connecting transportation projects

According to Director of Department of Transport - Dang Hoang Tuan, in addition to the ongoing traffic projects in the district, the Department also mobilizes resources to deploy traffic projects to create connectivity to develop the Dong Thap Muoi sub-region between Long An and Dong Thap provinces in Tan Hung district.

On January 7, 2022, the Department of Transport of Long An and Dong Thap provinces and the People's Committees of districts: Tan Hung, Tam Nong, and Thap Muoi discussed investment in the construction of transportation projects to create links to develop the Dong Thap Muoi sub-region. In particular, the two provinces agreed that Dong Thap province will be responsible for investing in the construction of the Hoa Binh - Vinh Chau B bridge project, the main bridge to connect Tam Nong district, Dong Thap province and Tan Hung district. Long An province will be responsible for investing in the construction of the Vinh Buu - Truong Xuan bridge project, the main bridge to connect Tan Hung district and Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province.

As for the investment in the path leading to the bridge and the site clearance component on both sides of the bridge abutment, whichever locality the access road part of these two bridges belongs to will be assigned for implementation. However, up to now, these 2 traffic bridge projects have not been implemented due to unbalanced funding sources.

Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan said: "Currently, the Department of Transport of Long An is actively working with the Department of Transport of Dong Thap to agree on a timeline for project implementation to create synchronization implementation of these projects, creating the best conditions for traffic connection between bordering districts of the two provinces. The Department also hopes that the People's Committee of Tan Hung district will soon come up with a plan for site clearance so that the project can be deployed and implemented smoothly."

Previously, to remove difficulties and obstacles and resolve voter's petitions, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation directly surveyed and worked with Tan Hung District People's Committee on traffic projects connecting Long An province and Dong Thap province.

In particular, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Head of Provincial National Assembly delegation - Nguyen Thanh Hai affirmed that the province will consider balancing and allocating capital sources promptly according to the priority of investment projects connecting traffic between the two provinces, solving voters' petitions.

He also requested Tan Hung district to urgently and proactively carry out compensation and site clearance to prepare for implementation of projects; carefully review, focus investment, avoid overlaps, obstacles in mechanisms and policies when implementing projects; prioritize truly urgent projects, ensure effective usage of investment capital./.
