After more than 10 years of implementing the National Target Program on building new-style rural area, with the efforts and creativity of both the political system and the people, the rural face of Tan Tru has really prospered. In the period 2011 - 2020, the total mobilized capital to build new-style rural areas of the district is 1,468 billion VND. In which, the central budget is 58 billion VND; the provincial budget is more than 69 billion VND, the integrated capital for the implementation of the Program (provincial, district and commune budgets) is 923 billion VND; enterprise capital is 73 billion VND; credit capital is 35 billion VND; People contributed capital is more than 309 billion VND.

At the present, 100% of commune and hamlet roads in Tan Tru have been asphalted and concreted; 100% of the main roads in the fields and alleys have been hardened; 28 out of 29 schools at all levels have been invested to meet national standards; 100% of households have permanent or semi-permanent houses; 95% of people participate in health insurance; 77% of households have access to clean water.

Rural roads in the district are concreted

In the period of 2015 - 2020, the average growth rate of the whole district is 6%. The economic structure of the district shifted in a positive direction, increasing the proportion of industries, construction, trade and services; reducing the proportion of the agricultural sector. Per capita income in 2020 reached 52.79 million VND/person; an increase of 39.76 million VND/person compared to 2011.

The regimes and policies on social security were implemented synchronously. The rate of multidimensionally poor households in 2020 decreased to 1.82%, the material and spiritual life of people has gradually been improved. Security, order and social safety are ensured and maintained, the political system is consolidated and operationally efficient.

By 2020, Tan Tru district met 9/9 criteria of new rural area standards according to Decision No. 558/QD-TTg dated April 5, 2016 of the Prime Minister.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee – Nguyen Minh Lam congratulated and praised the remarkable achievements and results that the Party Committee, authorities and people of Tan Tru district have strived for and achieved in the past years.

He requested Tan Tru continue to perform well the propaganda work so that the people and the whole political system can actively participate in the construction of new-style rural areas, so that the people can see the role of the subject, as well as their rights and responsibilities in new rural construction.

He emphasized, Tan Tru must focus on exploiting investment in the fields of industry - construction; trade and services; ecological urban area; Eco-tourism along the two Vam Co rivers associated with historical relics and traditional craft villages; infrastructure construction associated with the dynamic axis of Ho Chi Minh City - Long An - Tien Giang; markets; shopping mall; convenience stores; etc to promote potential strengths, economic development comprehensively and sustainably.
