Long An: Consumer price index in June 2020 increases by 0.7 percent

Consumer price index (CPI) in June 2020 in Long An increased by 0.7 percent over the previous month, of which goods increased by 1.12 percent and services did not change. Among commodity items, food and foodstuff rose by 0.52 percent and non-food and foodstuff rose by 1.74 percent.

Compared to the previous month, among 11 groups of goods and services, 7 groups had an increase in the price index: Transportation increased by 6.92 percent; Beverage and tobacco increased by 0.86 percent; Food and catering services increased by 0.32 percent; Garment, hat, footwear increased by 0.27 percent; Other goods and services increased by 0.13 percent; Household appliances and appliances increased by 0.02 percent; Culture, entertainment, and tourism increased by 0.01 percent. There are 2 groups with a decrease in the price index: Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials decreased by 0.35 percent; Education decreased by 0.01 percent. The Group of Drugs and Medical Services, the Post and Telecommunications have a constant price index.

The main reasons affecting the CPI: The price of gasoline increased by 14.26 percent (from 2 price adjustments on May 28 and June 12), contributing to the overall CPI increase of 0.59 percent. Besides, prices of some types of food, such as flour and cereals increased 3.02 percent, pork continued to increase 0.15 percent, poultry meat prices increased 1.47 percent, and so on to contribute to the general CPI increase for June 2020.

Some factors to curb the CPI increase in June 2020: Electricity price decreased by 2.97 percent (due to the reduction in demand in the month and from the reduction of electricity bill for customers affected electricity of Covid-19 according to Resolution No. 41/NQ-CP dated April 9, 2020 of the Government at the Government's regular meeting in March 2020 and Official Letter No. 2698/BCT-DTĐL of April 16, 2020 of the Government. Ministry of Industry and Trade); prices of some foods like eggs decreased by 1.41 percent, fresh seafood decreased by 0.55 percent, etc.

CPI in June 2020 increased by 0.7 percent over the previous month, by 4.21 percent over the same period last year and by 1.16 percent over December last year./.
