Long An has 2 athletes attending 2024 Paris Olympics

Athlete Vo Thi My Tien

Accordingly, at the 33rd Olympic Games, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation had 16 athletes participating. Among them, Long An province has 2 athletes: Vo Thi My Tien and Tran Thi Nhi Yen. Both won special tickets to attend the Olympics.

In the recent Olympic qualifiers, Vo Thi My Tien was the female swimmer with the highest score with 775 points, ranked ahead of 15-year-old young talent Nguyen Thuy Hien with 769 points. With this score, My Tien received a special seat to France to compete in the women's 200m individual medley event. Currently, My Tien is also the number 1 female swimmer in Vietnamese swimming.

Athlete Tran Thi Nhi Yen

As for the young talent Tran Thi Nhi Yen, although she has only been competing in professional sports for nearly 2 years, the runner from Long An has made rapid progress when she wont the 100m and 200m distances at the national championships.

At the age of 19, Nhi Yen has achieved dream achievements such as ranking 6th in the 100m distance at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships; reached the women's 100m and 200m finals at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.
