On October 6, the Long An People's Committee held an online meeting with localities in the province to evaluate the socio-economic development in the first 9 months of 2020 and the remaining 3-month work program in 2020. According to the report, the index of industrial production in the first 9 months increased only 6.02 percent over the same period (the same period increased by 15.24 percent). The number of groups of industrial products is 75 groups, of which 46 out of 75 groups have growth rate over the same period and 29 out of 75 groups decrease over the same period.

The total cultivated rice area in 2020 is estimated at 485,984 hectares, reaching 98.4 percent of the plan, equaling 96.9 percent over the same period in 2019. Other key crops of the province are well developed.

The program of mobilizing all resources for construction of transport infrastructure for industrial development in key economic regions and 3 key projects continues to be concentrated, speeding up implementation.

For 14 traffic works in the Program on mobilizing all resources to build transport infrastructure for industrial development in key economic regions, 9 works have been completed and put into use, 1 project will be completed in 2020 and the remaining 4 projects will be completed after 2020.

The total plan for public investment capital in 2020 allocated to the projects is VND 6,451.7 billion VND. The value of 9 months implementation is about 4,223.9 billion VND, reaching 65.5% of the plan. The whole province has 1,998 domestic investment projects licensed with registered capital of 232,768 billion VND. In 9 months of 2020, the province granted investment certificates to 64 foreign investment projects, with a total registered capital of 246.9 million USD.

The situation of trade - service in the first months of the year remained with relatively stable growth. Commodity market is plentiful, diversified in models and types, meeting the consumer demand of the people. However, from March onwards, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, revenue from services such as accommodation, food and beverage and tourism decreased. The province continues to strengthen trade promotion activities, expand markets, connect businesses, etc.

Leaders of some departments, branches and localities contribute ideas at the meeting. Accordingly, besides advantages, many difficulties still need close coordination among units and the leadership and direction of the Provincial People's Committee in resolving outstanding issues.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut suggested departments, branches and localities to coordinate well, rectify outstanding problems, create clear and easy conditions for businesses to attract investment. This is also an important factor in contributing to increasing budget revenues for the province.

In 2020, Long An focuses on solutions to promote economic growth in 2020 to reach 5.91 percent and ensure that the target in the period 2016-2020 meets the proposed plan of growing 9 - 9.5 percent.

They need to continue to effectively implement solutions to restructure the province's economy and restructure sectors and fields, ensure to exceed the socio-economic development plan in 2020, strive to exceed the target of socio-economic growth according to the resolution of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Council./.
