Long An speeds up building flood-proof residential areas

The Mekong Delta urban development must focus on developing compact city, a sustainable urban form for developing countries, said Deputy Minister of Construction Phan Thi My Linh at a conference on flood-proof residential areas and government's rural development plan in Long An province last December.

According to Chairman of the Vietnam Architects' Association Nguyen Tan Van, architects of the Mekong Delta region and local governments have recently joined hands to implement socio-economic development goals, including planning residential areas that cope well with flooding and carrying embankment projects in 8 provinces in the region.
