Receiving the invitation of US President - Joe Biden, President Vo Van Thuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended activities within the framework of APEC Summit Week 2023 combined with bilateral activities. In particular, on November 15, 2023 local time, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam accompanied the delegation to attend the APEC Business Summit in San Francisco city. This is the largest scale event of the business community in the region with the participation of more than 2,000 leaders of leading corporations in the world and Asia - Pacific.
After 25 years of participating in APEC, Vietnam has contributed actively, responsibly and effectively to all areas of cooperation, leaving many important marks and receiving high appreciation from member countries. Vietnam has proposed initiatives and joint cooperation projects of APEC, thereby promoting business relationships for mutual development in areas such as e-commerce, training and developing high-quality human resources, food security, urban development, solutions to cope with climate change. These cooperative initiatives and projects have actively contributed to promoting the harmonization of members' interests, carrying strategic significance in the economic integration of the Asia-Pacific region. At the same time, it effectively serves Vietnam's socio-economic development goals.

This is an important event in a series of activities of the APEC Summit Week co-organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States, the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco and the US-Asean Business Council. In particular, the discussion was attended by President Vo Van Thuong, US Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Ramin Toloui and leaders of localities, corporations and large businesses of Vietnam and the US.
The discussion is a very meaningful opportunity to further deepen the bilateral diplomatic relationship between the two countries. This is a clear demonstration of the potential for economic, investment and trade cooperation between the two countries in the new context.

Speaking at the discussion, President Vo Van Thuong said that high-level cooperation agreements will only come true when there is business cohesion between the two countries. This is a specific action to realize high-level agreements and the contents committed by both sides. Vietnam is a large exporter to the US market and in the opposite direction, there are currently many large US businesses investing in Vietnam, bringing practical value in the economic development.
In the new period, he hopes that US businesses will continue to promote investment activities in areas that Vietnam is particularly interested in such as high technology, green economy, digital economy, and non-cash payment and economic activities that benefit people.
Vietnam pledges to make maximum efforts in institutional reform and administrative procedures to create the most favorable investment environment for US businesses to enter Vietnam. If businesses are not satisfied, Vietnam will work to overcome and resolve those issues to truly create peace of mind and trust for US businesses to increase profits and bring values of bilateral interests.
It is expected that this sustainable cooperation will bring a prosperous and good life to the people of the two countries for sustainable development, happiness and success in the future.

Within the framework of a business trip to the United States, the Long An Provincial Delegation visited and worked with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. At the meeting, President and CEO of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Rodney Fong informed the delegation about the organizational structure and participation in multilateral and bilateral foreign affairs activities, especially collaborating to support localities to promote and connect with potential foreign investors in Vietnam as well as Vietnamese investors in the San Francisco market, especially in the field of green energy industry in respond to global climate change.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Lam expressed his appreciation for the enthusiastic and respectful welcome that the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce gave to the delegation. He gave an overview of the socio-economic situation, investment environment and orientation to attract foreign investment into the province.
He emphasized that with the advantage of maintaining import-export turnover and existing sustainable investment relationships, bilateral trade cooperation activities between the province and the United States have achieved many positive results in recent times. Accordingly, the province's import-export turnover in 2022 was 12.2 billion USD, with the US market alone being 534.9 million USD (of which, exports are 468.4 million USD; imports are 72.8 million USD). The main import and export items are: Industrial products, garments, handicrafts, agricultural products, and food.
He hopes that US trade organizations will be active connecting agencies to support the province in building and establishing cooperative relationships with US partners to promote the process of comprehensive international integration based on the strengths and key areas of the two sides.

Mutual support based on the foundation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United States aimed at sustainable development, ensuring harmony of economic interests.

During this business trip, leaders of Long An witnessed the province's typical enterprise, Dong Tam Joint Stock Company, signing a memorandum of understanding with Long Beach Port to formalize the relationship, opening up opportunities for cooperation and sharing experiences in port management and operation and market connection to improve transshipment goods output.
It is known that Long Beach Port is one of the world's leading seaports, located in Southern California, with 6 container terminals and value of goods of over 200 billion USD per year, is the number one export seaport in the United States and is the 21st busiest container shipping port in the world.
