Long An: Sugarcane area decreases by over 58 percent

According to Long An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the area of sugarcane in the province decreased sharply compared to the previous time.

Sugarcane area is estimated at 2,908 hectares, equaling 42 percent compared to the same period of 2018

Specifically, until June 8, in the 2019-2020 crop year, the sugarcane area is estimated at 2,908 hectares, equaling 42 percent compared to the same period of 2018.

Sugarcane is grown mainly in Ben Luc, Thu Thua and Duc Hoa districts. Because of the unstable consumption market, low prices and loss, farmers gradually switch from sugarcane to higher-value crops to easily consume their products./.
