The play featured the participation of nearly 90 stars and talented artists from the Vietnam Cai Luong Theatre of Hanoi and the Tran Huu Trang Theatre of Ho Chi Minh City.

The 150-minute play, Thay Ba Doi (Teacher Ba Doi), portrays the career of famous musician Nguyen Quang Dai, a guru of cai luong who helped develop tai tu music, a genre of traditional music, and cai luong in the South.

It aimed to honour the contributions made by Dai in promoting Hue royal music and cai luong.

The play combined both traditional and modern performance styles and the producers at the two theatres spent a lot on the production, including costumes, sound and light effects.

It is considered as a bright spot in preserving and promoting the Cai luong art in the flow of contemporary art and culture in Vietnam.

The second performance of the play ‘Thay Ba Doi’ will take place on May 28 at the Opera House in Hanoi./.
