Quarter I-2020: Total retailed sales of goods and services reaches 23,926 billion VND

According to Long An Department of Industry and Trade, trade and service activities in the first 3 months of 2020 were less active due to the impact of Covid-19 epidemic. However, retail sales of goods in the past 3 months still increased by 7.8 percent over the same period. Total retail sales of goods and services reached nearly 24,000 billion VND, reaching 23.3 percent of the year plan.

Enterprises strive to reserve goods to serve consumers

In addition to the Covid-19 epidemic, under the influence of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP, the enterprises producing beer, wine and catering services decreased significantly. In the first quarter of 2020, in the province, compared to the same period in 2010, revenue from the accommodation, catering services and tourism decreased by 8 percent, 3 percent and 37 percent, respectively. Trade promotion programs were also limited due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Currently, the Covid-19 epidemic is complicated and the shopping needs of people are increasing. The Department of Industry and Trade has surveyed and worked with commercial companies, supermarkets and food companies in the province to ensure food and essential goods when epidemics occur. The department has also monitored the market to avoid a shortage of essential goods to avoid speculation, affecting consumer psychology.

Thus, up to now, the goods reserve of the enterprises and supermarkets has reached over 750 billion VND, meeting the needs of people and organizations. At the same time, the enterprises are also committed to preparing the source of goods and ready to increase the supply of goods by more than 50 to 100 percent if the epidemic is getting more complicated./.
