Scarcity rockets up dragon fruit prices in Binh Thuan province
After drastic fall, dragon fruit price has highly increased reaching VND18,000-20,000 a kilogram in Binh Thuan which is the country’s largest dragon fruit farming province.

That is the highest price for the last one month after the price dropped to only VND1,000-2,000 a kilogram.
Despite the price hike, there is not much for sale because the peak harvest crop has gone by.
Ms. Nguyen Thi My from Ham Thuan Bac district said that a month ago, she had to throw away a ton of the fruit because of rock-bottom price and no consumption souce.

Binh Thuan Province Dragon Fruit Association said that supply shortage has rocketed the price. In addition, export maket has been advantageous.
Still the association warned farmers against expanding farming area to prevent supply from exceeding demand. They should apply science and technology to improve product quality and productivity towards sustainable production./.
