In 2007, Tan An town was recognized as a grade-III urban by the Ministry of Construction; and in 2009, it was recognized as a city under the province. Over 12 years of development, Tan An city has achieved many results on socio-economic development. Urban infrastructure has been invested to build synchronously according to planning, urban services have been increasingly improved, urban management has been more and more in order. As a result, Tan An city was recognized as a grade-II urban by the Prime Minister on September 5, 2019.

In recent years, the economic structure has shifted towards trade - service, industry and agriculture. The annual average growth rate of production value has been quite high, over 11.5 percent per year. The total annual state budget revenue of the city exceeds the plan, the average growth rate of the years reaches over 20 percent. The city is always at the top of the budget revenue of 15 districts, towns and cities in the province.

At the event

Investment attraction has achieved quite good results. The city has had over 8,500 businesses and business households with a total capital of over 1,000 billion VND, including 30 foreign-invested businesses. Loi Binh Nhon industrial cluster has covered an area of 88.5 hectares with a 100 percent occupancy rate, contributing to creating jobs for more than 10,000 employees.

Major projects of the city have been invested. The urban renovation has been focused, the city has been increasingly renovated, spacious and clean. The material and spiritual life of the people has been significantly improved, the standard of living and awareness of the people have been raised. The poor and near-poor households have decreased year by year. To date, the city's poverty rate is only 0.9 percent.

According to the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Pham Van Ranh, this is an important event in the development process of the city and an honor of the Party Committee, authorities and people of Tan An in particular, Long An province in general.

He asked Tan An city to strive more to develop towards a smart, green, civilized, modern and sustainable city; maintain security, politics, social order and safety; complete the tasks in the field of culture and society; and build the government apparatus at all levels "active, close, friendly"; etc.

Standing Deputy Prime Minister - Truong Hoa Binh congratulated and recognized the efforts of the city's Party Committee, authority and people. He asked the city to urgently review and update the planning, especially the urban development planning; exploit and effectively use the land fund for socio-economic development, especially infrastructure development, urban and agricultural, industrial and service sectors.

Long An province should focus on mobilizing resources, pay more attention to the development of Tan An city. Particularly, the city should exploit potentials, advantages; apply science and technology; improve competitiveness; develop culture, education; improve human resources, ensure social security; focus on completing the unfulfilled criteria or criteria that are lower than required; continue to well implement the Central Resolution 4 (Session XII) on building the Party associated with the implementation of Directive 05 on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; and so on.

On this occasion, Tan An city was not only recognized as a grade-II urban but also awarded the Second-class Labor Medal by the President for its outstanding achievements in mobilizing resources for investment in technical infrastructure and management of architectural planning and construction, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
