Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 works in Long An

On December 25, The Delegation of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389, which Deputy Chief of Office - Vu Hung Son, as the head of the delegation, came to examine and urge the implementation of plan against smuggling, trade fraud and fake goods before, during and after Lunar New Year of Buffalo 2021 in Long An Province.

According to the judgement of the National Steering Committee 389, the smuggling and trade fraud have an increasing trend and complicatedly happen in Lunar New year.

From the early December 2020, Long An People’s Committee has issued document and guided functional forces to apply plan against smuggling, trade fraud and fake goods before, during and after Lunar New Year of Buffalo 2021; demanded functional forces to reinforce the examination and control localities in charge to prevent smuggling.

In which, police establishes 6 stations against smuggling; Border Defence Force organizes 42 stations preventing Covid-19 pandemic, combines with anti-smuggling and 7 groups checking and controlling to avoid smuggle and illegal entry. Therefore, smuggling through border is fundamentally controlled and was not complicated like many previous years. However, there were some people stealthily transport cigarettes through boundary to deliver to other people for domestic consumption.

According to the statistics of the Steering Committee 389, from the time of implementing the top plan combating the smuggling, trade fraud and fake goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Buffalo 2021 up to now, the functional forces have implemented 281 checks and controls; they detected and handled 195 violation cases.

In which, there were 156 cases of trading and transporting banned and smuggled goods; the forces seized more than 384,000 cigarette packs, 33 kilograms of firecrackers, 2,150 kilograms of fabric, etc., prosecuted 14 cases with 14 illegal cigarette traffickers, etc.

However, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 also said that the handling of smuggled cigarette transporters still presently has difficulties and problems due to the lack of sanctions for transporting vehicles because these are rental vehicles. This has a huge influence on the post-handling work of the authorities.

Speaking at the conference in Long An province, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 - Vu Hung Son proposed that the Police, Border Guard, Market Management, Customs and provincial Steering Committee 389 needed to continue to closely and regularly coordinate, usually inform in the work of checking and handling of smuggling, trade fraud, and fake goods, especially during the Lunar New Year.

Particularly for difficulties and problems, the Delegation of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 will record and synthesize to report to the National Steering Committee 389 and make proposals to the relevant Ministries and branches in the near future.

On the same day, the Delegation of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 surveyed and directly examined the work of prevention and control of smuggling, trade fraud and fake goods at Binh Hiep International Border Gate in Kien Tuong commune./.
