Support from Working Group of Ministry of Health - Important factor repelling epidemic in Long An

The working group was established according to the decision No. 3245/QD-BYT of the MoH on June 30, 2021, in which, Deputy Director of Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City – Dr. Hoang Quoc Cuong is the leader, the others are members of Pasteur Institute, Cho Ray Hospital and Institute of Public Health of Ho Chi Minh City. With high professional capacity and extensive experience in anti-epidemic work, right after receiving the task, understanding and grasping the epidemic situation in Long An, the working group immediately participated in supporting to take testing samples; instruct to perform the test; support the treatment; guide biosafety; epidemic prevention and treatment in isolation areas, industrial parks, offices, schools and public areas. 

 Deputy Director of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City - Dr. Hoang Quoc Cuong said that the working group was very excited when Long An gradually controlled and repelled the epidemic, and has made progress day by day, demonstrated through its testing capacity; had a monitoring system, quick response; carried out the work of tracing and reporting methodically. Long An's 3-level treatment system also follows the guidance of the MoH to ensure effective patients’ care and treatment, gradually reduces the mortality rate.

Besides, Long An is also a bright spot in injecting vaccine against Covid-19. The support of the delegation is only a small part, in which it must be mentioned the efforts, determination and promotion of the internal resources of the Party Committee, the government and the people of Long An, especially the frontline forces.

 In order to maintain the anti-epidemic achievements, the province needs to strengthen its capacity to fight epidemics from the grassroots, promote the role of mobile medical stations and maintain the vaccination schedule over the past time. After that, Long An also had to strengthen surveillance for effective epidemic prevention; focus on expanding the injected people. Currently, the province's highest risk is workers, inns, the province needs to ensure a regular monitoring system, maintain periodic testing, and detect new cases at markets, schools and general hospitals.

"Despite completing the task, the working group will also provide professional support to Long An from faraway, be ready to help immediately to ensure the achievement of anti-epidemic results and protect people's health" - Mr. Hoang Quoc Cuong affirmed.

Accompanying with Long An during the past time, ready to be present in the province's hotspots with complex outbreaks to monitor, guide tracing, zoning, stamping out the epidemic, and coordinating samples effectively; pointed out the shortcomings and advised and supported Long An to step by step perfect the anti-epidemic work more professionally, quickly and effectively.

Day by day, under the consultation and support from the MoH's working group, the epidemic prevention work in the whole province has gradually operated synchronously, with clear strategies and specific orientations, to ensure the effectiveness, save time, human and financial resources. Each outbreak, each hotspot was gradually controlled, each red zone, orange zone, and yellow zone were made green.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa said that Long An has completely turned green so far, the epidemic situation is under control, the number of cases has decreased significantly and is returning to a "new normal" life. Among these achievements, there is a great contribution of the staff of the MoH’s Working Group having worked day and night, devotedly supported Long An. When other localities need support, with the experience imparted by the MoH's Working Group, Long An was ready to "share" and support localities in epidemic prevention and control.

At the Commendation Ceremony, 1 collective and 6 individuals from the MoH's Working Group also received a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their achievements in supporting the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic in the province.

 In the unprecedented fight, identifying epidemic prevention as a long-term task, dangers are still hidden, it is certain that the professional experience and skills that the MoH’s Working Group guided, shared over the past time will be valuable "experience", practical lessons for Long An to apply and practice to control the epidemic quickly and effectively, bringing peace to the people./.
