Tan An City has a natural area of 8,173.37 hectares, divided into 13 commune-level administrative units (8 wards and 5 communes) with 82 hamlets/neighborhoods. The total number of households is 43,466 (of which wards have 32,242 households and communes have 11,224 households) with a population of nearly 150,000 people.
Implementing the project to rearrange and reorganize administrative units at all levels and build a 2-level local government organization model, Tan An City has developed a plan to rearrange 13 communes and wards into 3 grassroots administrative units.

Tan An City to become 3 administrative units
Administrative unit 1 includes wards: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, Huong Tho Phu commune and part of the area of Binh Thanh commune, Thu Thua district. It is expected that this will be the central ward with the new name Long An ward (retaining the name of Long An province).
Administrative unit 2 includes ward 7 and the communes: An Vinh Ngai, Binh Tam and Nhon Thanh Trung. The new name is expected to be Tan An ward (retaining the name of Tan An city).
Administrative unit 3 includes Tan Khanh ward, Khanh Hau ward and Loi Binh Nhon commune. The new name is expected to be Khanh Hau ward (where there is the historical - cultural relic of Nguyen Huynh Duc's tomb - the person who opened up Giong Cai En (Khanh Hau today); Heritage tree).
