Tan Thanh district receives the First Class Labor Medal

Tan Thanh district was established on September 19, 1980, on the basis of separating from Moc Hoa district, is one of the gateway districts of Dong Thap Muoi region of Long An province.

In the early years of its establishment, people's lives were very difficult, of which 70 percent were deserted, 20 percent of the people were illiterate, over 90 percent of the houses were temporary, etc. With those difficulties and challenges, Tan Thanh Party Committee, authority and people always try their best to overcome the consequences of the war, strive to build more and more beautiful homeland.

Over 40 years of establishment and development, Tan Thanh achieved many outstanding results in all fields of politics - economy - culture and society. Specifically, up to now, the district has 6 out of 12 communes meeting new rural standards; poor households remain 2.97 percent; 27 out of 39 schools meeting national standards; the annual rice output reaches over 400,000 tons; roads ensure to serve four-wheel vehicles to reach centers of all 13 communes, towns and 70 out of 70 hamlets and quarters; 8 out of 11 communes have met the National health criteria Set.

He recommended the district to continue promoting the achievements of the past 40 years, in which the district proactively implemented the breakthrough program on agricultural development with hi-tech application associated with the agricultural restructuring according to the Resolution of Xth Provincial Party Congress in the coming time; focused on building new rural criteria, striving to reach a new rural district by 2025; created a favorable environment to attract investment in the development of industry - handicraft, trade - services; mobilize all resources to invest in perfecting the rural transport infrastructure system and doing well the work of social security; continued to arrange, minimize and improve the operational quality of the political system from district to grassroots levels; well implemented the Party building work, focusing on fostering a qualified staff to meet the requirements of the new situation, effectively implemented Central Resolution 4 (Session XII); paid attention to cultural fields, doing well in poverty reduction, social security, etc.

At the celebration, being authorized by the President, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Pham Van Ranh awarded the First Class Labor Medal to Tan Thanh District. It is known that this is the second time Tan Thanh has been awarded the First Class Labor Medal.

In addition, 10 collectives and 30 individuals received certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee and 18 collectives and 70 individuals received certificates of merit from the District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in contributing to socio-economic development to celebrate 40 years of its establishment.

Before that, district representatives and leaders visited the district martyrs' cemetery and planted memorial trees at the district Party Committee's office - People's Council - district People's Committee./.
