Part 5: Green agriculture "takes off"
The communes of Phuoc Thanh, Truong Mit, and Loc Ninh embody a rich convergence of cultural identities. They also serve as gateways to the province's high-tech agricultural development, elevating local production to new heights.
Phuoc Thanh Commune - The meeting point of three cultural currents
The new Phuoc Thanh Commune was formed from the merger of three communes: Hiep Thanh, Phuoc Trach, and the former Phuoc Thanh. Covering a total area of 70.89 km² and home to approximately 44,113 people, it represents not just a unification of administrative boundaries, but also a place where traditional rural values blend with a strong desire for innovation.
Phuoc Thanh Commune is also a convergence of three distinct identities: the former Hiep Thanh, known for its vast rice fields; Phuoc Trach, rich in cultural values expressed through rituals, festivals, and long-standing customs that contribute to a vibrant cultural tapestry; and the old Phuoc Thanh, where spiritual values and a deep sense of national pride are preserved, fostering harmony in all aspects of community life.
These three cultural currents intertwine to form the unique identity of the new Phuoc Thanh Commune, where the past meets the present. While preserving its traditional beauty, the commune is also actively embracing technological advancements in agriculture to enhance productivity and improve the quality of local products. Simultaneously, infrastructure and public service projects are underway, creating new opportunities for sustainable socio-economic growth.
This fusion not only preserves cultural heritage but also breathes new life into the entire community. From its lush green fields, the commune is gradually transforming into a dynamic hub of development, paving the way for rural eco-tourism and attracting investment. Phuoc Thanh Commune has become a symbol of harmony, where the three 'countryside souls' are no longer separate, but have united into a shared identity, opening new chapters full of promise.
Truong Mit Commune - Gateway to green agriculture
Truong Mit Commune is a newly established and dynamic administrative unit, formed through the merger of Bau Don Commune (formerly part of Go Dau District) and Truong Mit Commune (formerly part of Duong Minh Chau District). Covering a natural area of 74.43 km² and home to 40,174 people, it is a land that embodies many of the defining characteristics of the Southeast region. Stretching across plains interspersed with low hills, and blessed with a favorable climate and fertile soil, Truong Mit Commune offers ideal conditions for the sustainable development of commodity-based agriculture.
Key crops such as rice, cassava, sugarcane, and rubber continue to play a vital economic role; however, in recent years, the area dedicated to organic vegetable and fruit cultivation has steadily expanded, showcasing the farmers’ acumen and innovation. Culturally, Truong Mit Commune maintains a harmonious way of life, deeply rooted in the identity of the Southern countryside, with numerous folk festivals such as the harvest prayer ceremony and community activities held at pagodas and communal houses. The commune is also home to several historical relics from the resistance war, serving as meaningful destinations for traditional education programs.
The commune’s infrastructure is gradually improving, with expansions of inter-communal and inter-regional roads, as well as upgrades to schools and healthcare facilities, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development. Situated adjacent to several rapidly developing communes, Truong Mit benefits from a strategic location that positions it as a potential transit hub for agricultural products and a center for agricultural logistics services. Looking ahead, the commune holds great potential to become a specialized high-tech agricultural zone combined with rural experiential tourism, making a positive contribution to the evolving landscape of Tay Ninh Province.
Loc Ninh Commune - Ecological buffer zone, where green resources converge
The new Loc Ninh Commune was established through the merger of three administrative units: Loc Ninh Commune, Ben Cui Commune, and part of Phuoc Minh Commune (formerly of Duong Minh Chau District). Covering a total area of 90.25 km² and home to over 29,000 people, Lộc Ninh is situated in the heart of a hilly forest region, bordering several major development corridors and unique ecological zones within the province.
The area features red basalt soil—ideal for perennial industrial crops like rubber, cashew, sugarcane, and production forests. A major advantage is its access to the Dau Tieng Reservoir, one of Vietnam’s largest artificial lakes. This opens opportunities for integrated agriculture, aquaculture, and lakeside eco-tourism.
The community, predominantly Kinh people with deep agricultural roots, is now embracing modern farming models and building value chains for clean agricultural products. Simultaneously, the commune is seeing coordinated investments in transportation, healthcare, and education infrastructure to support long-term development. Local culture is preserved through traditional festivals and heritage sites such as temples and ancient shrines.
Notably, the historic Ben Cui resistance base offers valuable potential for historical tourism. Loc Ninh is not only an important ecological buffer zone but also a crossroads where modern agricultural development meets nature conservation, promising to become a new highlight of Tay Ninh Province./.
