According to the Department of Transport, on July 5, 2024, the Prime Minister officially approved the proposal of 3 bridges on Provincial Road 827E including bridges over Can Giuoc River, Vam Co Dong River and Vam Co Tay River from Korean ODA loans.
Perspective of Vam Co Tay bridge
Accordingly, Can Giuoc bridge crossing Can Giuoc river has 6 lanes with a length of 1,975m; the road leading to the bridge is about 2,260m long, the asphalt concrete road surface is 22.5m wide, and the roadbed is 40m wide. Vam Co Dong bridge acrossing Vam Co Dong river will be built with a scale of 6 lanes and a total length of 1,356m. Vam Co Tay bridge crossing Vam Co Tay river will have a similar scale with a length of 1,412m.
The total expected investment of the project is more than 4,797 billion VND. Of which, Korean ODA loan is equivalent to 4,060 billion VND and counterpart capital is about 736 billion VND. Regarding the financial mechanism of Korean ODA loans, the Central Bank will allocates 90%, the province will re-borrow 10%; As for counterpart capital, the province will balance 100% from the provincial budget.
According to the decision of the Prime Minister, the goal of the project is to improve infrastructure, expand the transportation network of Long An with localities in the province and neighboring provinces, and accelerate socio-economic development, improve people's lives, ensure sustainable development.
In particular, the construction of 3 bridges on Provincial Road 827E will contribute to forming a thorough route from Ho Chi Minh City through Long An to Tien Giang, strengthening traffic connections between the Mekong Delta provinces with Ho Chi Minh City and other international gateway. This is also a condition for the Ministry of Transport to consider upgrading the route to National Highway 50B according to the Road Traffic Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
The investment in building 3 bridges on Provincial Road 827E will also help connect Long An International Port with the Southwestern provinces in the shortest time, meeting the increasing demand for goods and passenger transport in the region. When the road is completed, it will stimulate and develop the province's key economic sectors such as farming, processing, exporting as well as building infrastructure, attracting investment capital to serve the goal of industrialization and modernization and promote the development of industrial zones and urban areas along the route.
According to the plan, the 3 bridges on Provincial Road 827E are expected to start construction in 2026./.
