New tourism product combines culture and spirituality

Not only striving to improve the quality of services at destinations, Long An tourism industry also focuses on developing new types of tourism to meet the increasingly diverse needs of tourists.

In modern life, many people need to find peace and want to do things that are beneficial to society. Grasping that mentality, the Provincial Tourism Association coordinates travel agencies and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province to build new tourism products to preserve and promote cultural and historical values.

The whole province currently has more than 300 pagodas, of which 2 pagodas are national historical - cultural relics, 5 pagodas are provincial historical - cultural relics. Most pagodas have been restored, embellished, and compiled with history to serve the needs of visitors from near and far. This is a clear advantage of Long An in promoting local cultural and historical values associated with tourism development to help visitors have new experiences, find balance in life, cultivate and nurture love.

Deputy Head and Chief Secretary of Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Duc Hoa district - Thich Le Duyen said: "The provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha focuses on developing tourism using outstanding pagodas with a rich history and are historical and cultural relics in the province.

Some typical temples and pagodas in the province such as Ton Thanh Pagoda, Thien Chau Pagoda, Phap Minh Pagoda, etc focus on meditation activities and are ready to preach and guide meditation when visitors request. The Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha encourages monks at pagodas to hone their sharing and presentation skills to best support visitors during the process of experiencing and meditating."

Delegates participating in the experiential spiritual tour organized by the Provincial Tourism Association visit students at Bo De Phuong Duy Primary, Secondary and High School (Thu Thua district)

In order to exploit the available advantages and provide tourists with many options, spiritual tourism products in the province are proposed to be divided into 4 tour groups. The first tour is associated with activities of visiting pagodas, meditating and especially doing good deeds through giving gifts to students of Bo De Phuong Duy Primary School, Middle School and High School of Long Thanh Pagoda (Thu Thua district). That helps visitors find joy in sharing and partly supports the school and the home in nurturing and teaching the children.

The second tour is proposed to be associated with traditional education, returning to destination to offer gratitude and worship of heroes and martyrs: Floating Pagoda, National Historical Site of Long Khot Fort Area, etc. Through the activities of burning incense, commemorating, and praying, visitors can learn more about the heroic history, deepening their gratitude to the previous generation.

The spiritual festival tour revolves around major festivals in the province: Lam Chay Festival, Uncle Ho's Birthday celebration at Long Khot Temple, commemoration of Hero Nguyen Trung Truc, etc. Last one is the pilgrimage tour.

Participating in the experiential spiritual tour organized by the Provincial Tourism Association in April 2024, delegates highly appreciated the spiritual values that the trip brought. Former Chairman of Provincial People's Committee - Duong Quoc Xuan shared: "The spiritual tour brings new experiences, arousing pride and love in the hearts of participants when the destinations are all temples with rich historical values, having contributed to the cause of liberating the country.

The highlight of the journey was the gift giving activity to children at Bo De Phuong Duy Primary, Secondary and High School, bringing many emotions. The success of this spiritual tourism journey affirms the important role in coordination between travel agencies, the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and state management agencies. When tours like this are popular, tourists participating in the tour will be able to cultivate love and pride for their homeland."

According to Deputy Director of Provincial Tourism Information and Promotion Center - Le Thi Hong Thuy, when developing spiritual tourism products, the tourism industry aims to contribute to preserving and promoting cultural and historical values from a new perspective to attract tourists.

The main goal of the tours is to develop the spiritual life of people, towards the values of truth, goodness and beauty, helping to improve the quality of life. With the existing spiritual cultural heritage system, Long An converges many favorable factors for spiritual tourism to become a strategic development step of provincial tourism in the coming time. However, exploit effectively and according to regulations requires a lot of cooperation from everyone.

Currently, Long An tourism is still quite new to tourists. However, with the efforts of businesses and the determination of the government, we believe that the province's tourism destinations and services will be shaped in the hearts of tourists from near and far./.
