Trade fairs and exhibitions are opportunities for businesses to promote products, reach potential customers, and capture consumer tastes.
Effectiveness of promoting exports
In the first 6 months of 2024, the province's total export turnover continues to lead the Mekong Delta, estimated at 3.757 billion USD, an increase of 16.4% over the same period in 2023. To date, the province's goods have been exported to 130 countries and territories with the participation of 900 businesses. Long An gradually increases the proportion of exports to markets with high quality requirements such as Korea (14.2%), the United States (8%), Japan (6.25%), Singapore (4%); maintains traditional markets such as Taiwan (21.4%), China (11.9%), Hong Kong (8%).
The above results come from the efforts of the Department of Industry and Trade in coordination with agencies under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Counselor, and the Vietnam Trade Office in informing businesses about the situation, policies, and laws in the international market. At the same time, the Department of Industry and Trade implemented the national industrial promotion program, supporting businesses to improve machinery, technological equipment, and improve product competitiveness, with a total investment of up to 1.85 billion VND; focus on implementing trade promotion activities and market development
In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, the Department of Industry and Trade supported more than 300 businesses to participate in trade connection events with domestic and foreign businesses and trade promotion organizations in direct and online forms. The department also mobilizes businesses to participate in reputable e-commerce platforms. To date, there are 68 participating booths with 265 products (an increase of 34 booths and 136 products compared to the first quarter of 2024). The department supported 5 businesses to develop booths on reputable, cross-border e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba.
For businesses facing difficulties in the process of connecting trade and promoting exports, the Department of Industry and Trade provides timely support and quickly resolves problems. Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Huynh Van Quang Hung informed: "Implementing the motto of considering businesses' difficulties and success as of the province, the department regularly shares market information, free trade agreements, policy changes, technical barriers in trade, etc to the business community to best take advantage of opportunities in trade.
At the same time, the Department closely coordinates with the Business Association to review central and provincial regulations to propose and amend them to clear bottlenecks and promote exports.
Established in 2004, Hai Au Farm (hamlet 7, Luong Hoa commune, Ben Luc district) is a pioneer in growing seedless limes in the province. Currently, the farm grows and cooperates with farmers inside and outside the province with a total cultivation area of 500 hectares, with an estimated output of more than 14,000 tons/year. Hai Au Farm's seedless lime products are present in many international markets such as the Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia, and China.
Owner of Hai Au Farm - Nguyen Hai Au shared: "I was encouraged and supported by the Department of Industry and Trade to participate in international fairs and trade promotion conferences. Through these trips, I have the opportunity to meet many potential customers at home and abroad. The Department also proactively contacts businesses, especially new businesses, by sending information about programs, supporting costs for setting up booths, etc.
As one of the largest seedless lime production facilities in Ben Luc district, Hai Au Farm (hamlet 7, Luong Hoa commune) regularly participates in trade exhibitions and export fairs to promote Vietnamese agricultural products to the international market
In the coming time, Mr. Hai Au wants to expand the scale and invest in modern equipment and production lines to create many unique products. In addition, he also continues to participate in programs and seminars organized by the Department of Industry and Trade to understand the characteristics of each international market, especially difficult markets such as Europe and the United States, etc.
In the coming time, the province will continue to support maintaining the market for exported products; support production development and export to markets with high quality requirements; prioritize inviting investment to develop production and export of product groups: deeply processed agricultural products, high-tech industries, creating high added value, meeting the trend of green production and green consumption.

Enhance products in the international arena
For Vietnamese products to successfully conquer the international market, businesses understand that the key factor is quality. Not only focusing on finding partners through trade connection activities, many businesses focus on investing in modern equipment, improving machinery, production processes, market research and customer needs to meet export standards.
With export orientation, Vaco Agriculture Company Limited (hamlet 5, Thanh Duc commune, Ben Luc district) constantly improves product quality to meet international market needs. In particular, products such as cordyceps, cordyceps herbal tea, cordyceps wine, etc are all strictly tested, meeting international standards such as ISO 22000:2018, ISO 9001.
Director of Vaco Agriculture Company Limited - Le Xuan Dieu said: "The company focuses on a closed production process. Researching, seed selection, planting, harvesting to processing and packaging, food hygiene and safety are guaranteed according to international standards. The factory system is built modernly, equipped with machines applying advanced technology from Germany, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam."

An effective product on the market converges many factors, of which the most important step is research and identification of customers' needs and consumption trends. Understanding that, Mr. Xuan Dieu regularly participates in exhibitions and fairs on trade connection and export promotion at home and abroad to both reach potential customers, promote products, and capture the interest of consumer purchasing behavior.
He also regularly invites experts from Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade to advise on improving production processes and finding the right direction for exported cordyceps products.
Determining that 80% of the enterprise's revenue comes from export, HG Food Joint Stock Company (hamlet 1, My Phu commune, Thu Thua district) promotes production to meet the needs of the international market.
According to Deputy Director of HG Food Joint Stock Company - Ho Triet Hung, to be able to export to European countries, strict growing procedures and limited spraying are required to avoid chemical residues in the fruit. Therefore, the company associates and cooperates with agricultural cooperatives in the province to obtain the desired source of raw materials.
Established in 2019, the company has exported many products: dried crispy dragon fruit, banana, jackfruit, mango, pineapple, etc without oil to demanding markets such as the US and Europe. Many foreign customers like it because the product uses freeze-drying technology, ensuring natural acidity and sweetness.

“Current challenges in the international market are posing requirements for sustainable export development, promoting in-depth restructuring of export goods associated with market diversification.
At the same time, businesses need to proactively prevent and respond to trade defense measures of importing countries" - Mr. Huynh Van Quang Hung commented./.
