In particular, in the environmental field, the province determines the proportion of operating industrial zones and clusters with centralized wastewater treatment systems that meet environmental discharge standards to reach 100%, the rate of hazardous waste collected, transported and treated according to regulations is nearly 100%; ensuring that 100% of wastewater is collected and treated to meet standards equivalent to the quality of wastewater discharged for domestic use. The proportion of the urban population using clean water through the centralized water supply system reached 100%; the proportion of rural households use clean water at 80%.

At the same time, Long An is striving for the rate of monitoring points in Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay basins to have WQI at a good level or higher, reaching 70%; the average area of public green land per capita in the inner city to reach 10m2; ensuring that no establishment causes serious environmental pollution.

According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, to achieve that goal, the department will focus on promoting propaganda and dissemination of legal regulations on environmental protection, strengthen inspection and supervision in investment and centralized wastewater treatment activities of industrial zones and clusters in the province.

In addition, the Department also focuses on guiding and inspecting the classification of household solid waste at source, strengthens recycling solutions, waste circulation, orient advanced technology, limits landfilling, and prioritizes energy recovery treatment. The Department regularly inspects and supervises investment and treatment activities, exploits and uses them properly, protects the environment and water resources, and strictly controls waste sources in the basins and river systems, promptly detect and handle violations of environmental laws./.
