The Long An Department of Industry and Trade informed that the industrial production index in the province in May 2019 increased by 1.92 percent compared to April and 17.4 percent over the same period in 2018. Particularly, processing and manufacturing industry increased by 15.04 percent; electricity production and distribution industry increased by 18.75 percent; water supply, management and treatment of waste and wastewater increased by 14.21 percent over the same period in 2018.

Accordingly, the number of industrial product groups in May 2019 is 75 groups. In which, 55/75 groups had a growth rate over the same period and 20/75 groups had a decrease compared to the same period in 2018.

Some industrial products increased such as construction bricks (up 57.6 percent), wall paint (up 36.6 percent), plastic products (up 36 percent), wood products (up 33.2 percent), finished iron - steel (up 20.9 percent), yarns of all kinds (up 23.8 percent), commercial electricity (up 18.8 percent), finished fabrics (up 16.1 percent), mineral and chemical fertilizers (up 13.8 percent), pharmaceutical products (up 12.4 percent), mineral water (up 9.9 percent), garment products (up 6.8 percent), etc.

Besides, the industrial products decreased such as footwear (down 1.3 percent), animal feed (down 6.8 percent), dried cashew nuts (down 3.7 percent), rice milling (down 5.2 percent), artificial fibers (down 9.3 percent), handbag production (down 8.4 percent), backpack production (down 9.8 percent), optical fiber production and optical fiber (down 10.6 percent)./.
