Long An invests in synchronous traffic infrastructure system

In recent years, a series of key traffic projects have been deployed and implemented, gradually forming a synchronous, modern, highly connected traffic system, especially in key economic regions of the province.

The transportation system has gradually formed synchronously, modernly, and highly connected

Step by step synchronously, modernly complete the infrastructure

About 10 years ago, despite its important position as the gateway to the west of Ho Chi Minh City, Long An has not yet exploited its available potential and developed its socio-economic potential. Attracting investment to the province also encountered difficulties when many investors had not yet chosen Long An as a destination. Part of the reason was that the transportation infrastructure system was not yet developed and lacked synchronization.

At that time, in addition to National Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway passing through the province, most of the connecting roads were only provincial roads with small, narrow surfaces, not meeting the development requirements, especially the development of industry, trade, and services.

From that reality, in recent terms of the Provincial Party Congress, investment in developing the transportation system has always been included in the resolution.

In particular, at the 10th and 11th Provincial Party Congresses, the province determined to include in the resolution key traffic projects and breakthrough programs to build a synchronous traffic system to serve the development of industry and urban areas in key economic zones. A series of major traffic projects were completed, gradually forming a highly connected traffic network.

Tan Tap - Long Hau - National Highway 50 - Long An International Port route forms a traffic axis connecting Long An province - Ho Chi Minh City

In particular, in the 2015-2020 term, the province determined 3 key projects including Provincial Road 830, Tan An City Ring Road and Provincial Road 827E (now National Highway 50B); at the same time, implementing the Breakthrough Program to mobilize all resources to build a traffic infrastructure system to serve industrial development in key economic zones of the province, the Transport sector invested in 14 key traffic projects and works to serve industrial development in districts in key economic zones with a total investment of nearly 6,000 billion VND.

In the 2020-2025 term, the province has identified 3 key traffic works including completing Tan An City Ring Road, Provincial Road 830E and 827E, invested in works under the Breakthrough Program to mobilize all resources to build a synchronous traffic infrastructure system to serve industrial development and urban areas in key economic zones. The Transport Sector has been assigned to focus on 8 traffic projects.

Tan An City Ring Road helps connect traffic and socio-economy of neighboring districts

Director of the Department of Transport - Dang Hoang Tuan said: "In recent years, from large investment resources, the traffic system in the province has been gradually built to be complete, synchronous, highly connected, basically meeting the needs of transportation, trade of goods as well as travel of people, contributing to the goal of promoting industrialization, modernization and attracting investment".

Practical projects

Traffic projects completed in recent times have brought high efficiency, contributing to the development of local socio-economic, especially key traffic projects with regional connectivity.

Tan An City Ring Road (a key project of the 10th and 11th Provincial Party Congresses) was completed and put into use at the end of 2023, creating joy and excitement for the Party Committee, government and people of Tan An City in particular, and Long An province in general.

The project starts at the intersection with National Highway 62 at My Phu intersection (Thu Thua District), ends at the intersection with National Highway 1 - Provincial Road 833 (Tan An City), with a total length of more than 22km of road and 5 bridges. The total investment capital is 3,102 billion VND. Of which, the construction investment cost is 1,661 billion VND, the rest is the cost of site clearance. The route meets the level 3 standards in the delta.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tam - a container truck driver transporting dragon fruit from Chau Thanh District to the northern provinces and cities, said: "Since the Tan An City Ring Road opened to traffic, it has been much more convenient for drivers. We do not have to go into Tan An city like before, helping to reduce time and avoid the risk of traffic accidents”.

The completion of Tan An City Ring Road helps develop urban infrastructure, traffic connection, socio-economic development of Tan An City and neighboring districts (Thu Thua, Chau Thanh, Tan Tru), reduce traffic pressure on National Highway 1, National Highway 1 bypass, National Highway 62 through Tan An City and Hung Vuong Street, minimize traffic accidents, avoid traffic congestion during holidays and Tet, contribute to accelerating the speed of urbanization, attracting investment capital to develop socio-economic, soon bringing Tan An city to the standard of a type I urban area, friendly - civilized - modern in the future.

In addition, the traffic works under the breakthrough construction program such as Provincial Road 824 help synchronously expand the cross-section scale of the entire route, ensur convenient traffic connection from Provincial Road 825, Provincial Road 830 to Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh province, reducing traffic pressure, solving the frequent traffic congestion on the route during rush hour. The Tan Tap - Long Hau - National Highway 50 - Long An International Port route creates a traffic axis connecting Long An province - Ho Chi Minh City, between industrial parks and clusters in Can Giuoc district, developing logistics and multimodal transport for the region, serving the needs of transporting goods, attracting investment and promoting the exploitation efficiency of Long An International Port.

The Hung Vuong - National Highway 62 intersection forms an important dynamic traffic axis to help develop the socio-economic development of Tan An City and the inter-regional area

In particular, the intersection at the Huynh Van Gam - National Highway 62 - Hung Vuong intersection (Ward 2, Tan An city) previously had many shortcomings. During rush hour, the density of people and vehicles was very high, causing frequent congestion. This area often has large trucks and containers circulating into the inner city of Tan An city and then moving to Chau Thanh district.

In early 2022, the Hung Vuong - National Highway 62 intersection project started construction with a capital of nearly 360 billion VND, and the construction was completed in September 2023.

The project has been completed and put into use, contributing to connecting the main traffic axis Hung Vuong - National Highway 62, forming an important dynamic traffic axis to help develop the socio-economic development of Tan An city and inter-regional areas, ensuring traffic safety, solving traffic congestion, improving flooding situation, completing urban technical infrastructure works, making the urban appearance of the area clean and beautiful, connecting with urban areas in the direction of a civilized and modern city.

Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan affirmed that with the leading role of transportation, the Department of Transport is currently focusing on accelerating the progress of key traffic works under the breakthrough program, striving to soon complete them to serve socio-economic development.

“It can be affirmed that from mobilizing all resources to invest in the transport infrastructure system, up to now, the province's transport system has been basically invested synchronously, with high connectivity, contributing to creating a driving force to promote socio-economic development, attract investment, exploit the potential and strengths of the province, ensure national defense - security and help the province continue to maintain its leading position in the Mekong Delta, striving to become a fairly developed province in the Southern Key Economic Zone" - Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan added./.
