NTV International Investment Company Limited (Thai Hoa Industrial Park, Duc Hoa district) specializes in producing and exporting coconut jelly, bird's nest aloe vera, boba, etc.
Long An is the leading province in the Mekong Delta region and top in the country in attracting investment, especially foreign investment (FDI). Although the global economy has not yet overcome the difficult period, Vietnam is expected to become an important production and export center in the global value chain.
More specifically, in recent years, Long An has attracted more and more FDI investment; At the same time, free trade agreements (FTAs) continue to have a positive impact, which will be the foundation for businesses to promote production and export activities and contribute to the province's economic development process.
According to Long An Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the province will develop 10 logistics centers in districts: Can Giuoc, Ben Luc, Chau Thanh, Can Duoc, Duc Hue, Tan Tru and Kien Tuong town with a total area of more than 790 hectares. |
Promoting potential and strengths in export and import
Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Huynh Van Quang Hung shared, with the strategic advantage of being adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City and being the gateway to the Mekong Delta, the province implements many key traffic projects, creating a smooth traffic system, strategic inter-regional and inter-provincial connection, clearing bottlenecks in the transportation and logistics system.
In particular, key traffic routes in the province connecting industrial parks and clusters and Long An International Port contribute to reducing transportation and logistics costs for businesses.
According to forecasts of economic experts, in the coming time, import and export goods in the Mekong Delta region will reach about 20 million tons/year. The region's demand for transporting goods for domestic consumption and export is about 17-18 million tons/year. In particular, Long An is focusing on attracting investment and forming logistics chains in the province, gradually shaping into a regional logistics center.
Currently, Long An has 2 logistics centers in operation, which are the 147 hectares logistics reception area of Long An International Port in Tan Tap commune, Can Giuoc district; The 10 hectares warehouse and logistics service center in Thanh Loi commune, Ben Luc district to serve import and export.
Industrial parks in Long An have attracted 206 investment projects related to logistics activities such as freight transportation services, warehouse rental services, etc with a total registered investment capital of about 1 billion USD and 29,554 billion VND, total area of about 600 hectares. Cold storages in Long An are mostly large-scale, invested in by famous brands with high technology systems and international standard processes, giving customers the best service experience. This is also a favorable condition for the province to develop the supply chain of import-export goods.
According to Mr. Huynh Van Quang Hung, currently, Ho Chi Minh City has implemented seaport infrastructure fees for businesses participating in seaport import and export. Meanwhile, businesses using Long An International Port have many more advantages due to no infrastructure fees, saving transportation time, and convenient traffic. In particular, the port has preferential policies for customers, modern security systems, warehouse systems, and bonded warehouses for all types of export and import goods.
The Department of Industry and Trade continues to organize activities connecting export and import businesses through Long An International Port
However, currently, Long An International Port has not fully exploited the number of customers participating in import and export in the province as well as neighboring areas. Recently, the Department of Industry and Trade has organized many events connecting import-export enterprises, domestic and foreign organizations, businesses, and corporations to learn about import and export through Long An International Port.
In addition, to promote the role of Long An International Port, the province focuses on implementing a number of contents: Urging the Ministry of Finance to soon make a decision to establish Long An International Port Customs Branch; Proposing a mechanism to support and encourage containers through Long An International Port; Supporting and organizing activities to connect import-export enterprises through Long An International Port; Promoting Long An International Port to sign cooperation agreements with major ports in the world such as Oakland Port (USA), Long Beach Port (USA), Laem Chabang Port (Thailand).
In particular, the province proposed ministries to allow Long An International Port to import 16-seat cars; performing more import-export services, as well as adding Long An International Port to the list of water transport and transit according to current regulations.
With strong investment to develop logistics services into an important economic sector of the province, Long An will become a gateway, goods transshipment center, and warehouse connecting provinces in the Mekong Delta region with Ho Chi Minh City, Southeast region and Cambodia markets.
When businesses participate in import and export through Long An International Port, the provincial government will continue to coordinate with the port to support businesses with many policies, including improving service quality, shortening cargo transportation time, reducing logistics costs for businesses. Thereby, the provincial government expects Long An International Port to play an important role as a seaport chosen by many businesses to import and export goods, contributing a large proportion to the provincial budget, accompanying the province in fast and sustainable socio- economic development./.
