Long An: Purchasing power decreases slightly in October 2019

Up to now, Long An has had 34 Bach Hoa Xanh stores, 3 convenience stores of San Ha Co., Ltd., 6 Vinmart+ stores in operation to better serve the shopping and consumption needs of the people.

However, in October, total retail sales of goods and services revenue was estimated at 7499 billion VND, down 0.5 percent compared to September and up 14.4 percent over the same period of 2018. In the first 10 months of 2019, the total retail sales of goods and services reached 74,432 billion VND, reaching 83.9 percent of the year plan, up 14.8 percent over the same period in 2018.

In October, the consumer price index increased by 0.48 percent compared to September and increased by 1.72 percent over the same period in 2018. On average, in the first 10 months of 2019, the consumer price index increased by 2.69 percent over the same period in 2018.

The prices of 6 out of 11 commodity groups increased compared to September, including food and food service; garments, hats and shoes; housing, electricity and water; fuel and construction materials; traffic; post and telecommunication; other goods and services.

The prices of 3 out of 11 groups reduced compared to September, including beverages and cigarettes; household appliances; culture, entertainment and tourism.

Prices of 2 out of 11 commodity groups were stable, including drugs, health services and education.

Especially, in October, trade promotion activities were promoted by the Department of Industry and Trade through many supply and demand programs. The program was actively participated by businesses and cooperatives to introduce their goods to businesses, distribution systems in Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang province and Chinese businesses. Thereby, many memorandums of understanding between businesses were signed.

In addition, the promotion and connection of consumption of rice, dragon fruits, jackfruits and many other goods were also carried out in Long An, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City in order to find a sustainable output for businesses and cooperatives./.
