Long An province delegation at the forum
The Vietnam - Japan Trade and Investment Promotion Forum 2023 is organized by the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in coordination with Japan's organizations. Attending the forum was the Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan - Pham Quang Dieu; Vice President of Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry - Hoang Quang Phong; Ms. Kakihara Atsuko - Co-Chair of the Japan Business Association and JMBCC; Mr. Yoshikawa Tetsushi - Deputy General Director of Trade Policy Department under Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI).
On Long An province's side, there were Chairman of Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut and members of the province's working delegation. The forum also has the participation of Hung Yen and Soc Trang provinces; industrial park infrastructure enterprises in Vietnam along with over 150 representatives of large businesses and corporations in Japan.
Speaking at the opening, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan - Pham Quang Hieu said that economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Japan are developing strongly. Japan is currently one of Vietnam's leading economic partners, No. 1 partner in ODA, No. 2 partner in labor, No. 3 partner in investment and tourism, and No. 4 partner in trade.
Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu assessed that Vietnam - Japan relations are at the best stage in history; With the support of the Governments and people of the two countries, Vietnam - Japan relations have favorable conditions to develop to new heights, strengthening cooperation in traditional fields such as investment, trade, tourism, labor and even new areas such as green transition, energy transition, etc; promoting local and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Within the framework of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, the Ambassador highly appreciated the connecting role of VCCI, the positivity of localities in calling for investment and comprehensive cooperation with Japanese partners. At the same time, he believes that localities need to make efforts to reform administrative procedures, invest in synchronous infrastructure, improve the quality of human resources, call for investment with sustainable and environmentally friendly targets. These are prerequisite factors for Japanese businesses to invest abroad.
Attending the forum, Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut gave an overview of Long An Provincial Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050, which emphasized the potential and advantages. The province has many industrial parks and export processing zones with synchronous technical infrastructure; abundant labor force with nearly 1 million people at working age. Long An is also gradually improving human resources when sending workers studying and training in Japan to attract large Japanese corporations and businesses.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ut also announce some key areas that the province is prioritizing to attract investment in, including industry, electronics, international quality urban areas; high-tech agriculture; logistics; etc. These are all areas where Japanese partners have many strengths and have affirmed their position in the global market.
Within the framework of the forum, Saigon Telecommunications Technology Joint Stock Company signed a memorandum of understanding with Valley Campus Japan (VCJ) and Valley Campus Saigon (VCS) on cooperation in implementing projects in Long An related to human resource development, solution development and technology transfer in the agriculture and environment; cooperation in training and supplying highly qualified human resources to meet Japan's most stringent requirements in the fields of agriculture and information technology; platforms deploying high-tech agricultural IoT application, applying Blockchain technology to traceability, carbon emissions measurement, applying new technologies of Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Vietnam.
This is the only cooperation signing at the forum and received a lot of attention and appreciation from Japanese partners to the goal of industrialization and modernization associated with sustainable development of the province.
Also on September 13, the province's delegation participated in a discussion with the leaders of Japan - Vietnam Economic Committee. Receiving the delegation were Mr. Fujimoto Masayoshi - Chairman of Keidanren and Sojitz Corporation along with leaders of leading corporations in Japan such as Hitachi, Japan Airlines, Sumitomo, Japan International Bank, etc
At the meeting, Acting Director of Long An Department of Planning and Investment of - Truong Van Liep briefly presented the province's economic achievements, potential and investment attraction orientation in the coming time. He also expressed his desire to continue welcoming and working with Keidanren Institutes in Long An as soon as possible.
Keidanren leaders said that Japanese businesses highly appreciate the potential of the Vietnamese market, especially the southern provinces, including Long An province. At the same time, he hope that the province will focus on simplicity, improve the efficiency of administrative procedures, train highly specialized human resources, and invest in synchronous infrastructure so that Japanese investors can trust the province to invest and develop together.

Ending the working sesision in Tokyo, on September 14, the province's delegation will move to Osaka city to attend the Vietnam Japan Trade & Investment Promotion Forum (Kansai) 2023; visit and work at the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka./.
Long An province's delegation participated in investment and trade promotion in Japan from September 10 to September 16 at the invitation of the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka.
Before that, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan; worked with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO); paid a courtesy visit to the Japanese Parliamentarian and worked with a number of businesses and universities in Japan.
