Proactively prevent epidemics, ensure livestock safety

During the Month of environmental sanitation, disinfection, and sterilization, localities across the province are urgently implementing comprehensive measures to prevent and control epidemics, while simultaneously carrying out the second round of livestock vaccination in 2025. This activity holds significant importance, helping proactively prevent the outbreak and spread of animal diseases, while also ensuring food safety and biosecurity in livestock production.

Veterinary staff disinfect a livestock area

According to the plan, in September and October 2025, localities will establish teams to conduct environmental sanitation and disinfectant spraying in key areas such as small-scale farms, grazing fields, collection points, live animal markets, fresh animal product markets, as well as burial and waste disposal sites for diseased animals and contaminated animal products. These activities are carried out regularly and continuously to create a clean farming environment, minimizing the persistence and spread of pathogens.

In addition, livestock farms, centralized slaughterhouses, poultry and waterfowl hatcheries, and similar facilities are also required to proactively allocate funds for sanitation, disinfection, and sterilization in farming areas and their surroundings. This work is conducted under the close supervision of local authorities and specialized veterinary and livestock agencies to ensure consistency and effectiveness in epidemic prevention and control.

Along with these measures, relevant authorities and localities are strengthening communication efforts to raise public awareness. Farmers are encouraged to regularly clean livestock facilities and apply lime powder and disinfectants to reduce pathogens, thereby protecting their herds and the surrounding environment.

In particular, for localities where outbreaks such as African swine fever and foot-and-mouth disease have occurred, authorities have requested the maximum mobilization of resources and the decisive, synchronized implementation of control measures to promptly contain and eliminate outbreaks and prevent them from spreading widely. This is considered an urgent task to protect livestock herds, maintain biosecurity, and stabilize the province’s livestock sector./.
