Sustainable agricultural production associated with new-style rural areas construction

Identifying sustainable agricultural development as the foundation for implementing the criteria and targets in the set of criteria for new-style rural areas construction, localities in Tay Ninh province have deployed production tasks and solutions associated with new-style rural areas construction, gradually improving the material and spiritual life of rural people.

In recent years, localities in the province have promoted the dissemination of high technology applications in agricultural production; converted many ineffective cultivation areas into specialized cultivation of fruit trees such as durian, pomelo, pineapple, etc.; transferred scientific advances, high technology, smart agriculture, and environmental friendliness into production. Thanks to that, many agricultural production models have been formed applying advanced cultivation processes, applying synchronous mechanization, investing in installing automatic irrigation systems, saving water in production.

Mr. Duong Van Lam's family (residing in Go Dau ward) is developing a model of growing cantaloupes in greenhouses. In particular, Mr. Lam's garden has been basically automated. In particular, the application of a drip irrigation system to each tree has helped Mr. Lam proactively provide adequate water and nutrients for the plants, increasing productivity and significantly reducing production costs.

“When applying high technology to production, my family's garden productivity increased significantly, the quality was consistent, and production costs were reduced by about 2/3 compared to before. Thanks to that, my cantaloupes were well received by consumers, and profits also increased,” said Mr. Lam.

Mr. Quach Kim Song's family (residing in Tan Hoi commune) has 1.5 hectares of garden land for growing durian. For the trees to grow well, Mr. Song has produced according to VietGAP standards, applied scientific and technical advances in production, cared for the garden biologically, used microbial fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers, to maintain a stable pH. Thanks to that, the trees grow well and have stable output.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Xuan - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment informed: In the province, many farmers have applied high technology to agriculture from production to harvesting and preservation. Thereby, helping to increase productivity, quality, reduce costs and adapt to climate change. Large-scale production also helps farmers to form cooperatives, sign product consumption contracts with businesses, expand opportunities to develop agricultural production in a modern, safe, quality, competitive direction, export products, contributing to building sustainable and effective new-style rural areas.

It can be seen that the transfer of scientific and technological advances into production not only helps many types of technology to be widely applied locally, forming new production thinking for farmers, but also helps to improve the appearance of the countryside.

To increase the value of each unit of agricultural land, in the coming time, the province needs to continue reviewing and supplementing the planning for converting ineffective rice-growing land into crops and livestock with high economic efficiency, focusing on building agricultural production areas that meet VietGAP standards; creating conditions to attract businesses to invest in the field of high-tech agriculture to ensure the requirements of investment resources, a workforce with high management and technical skills, as well as ensuring product output./.
