Part 6: Historical imprints and reservoir tourism potential
As lands steeped in heroic history and blessed with the ecological advantage of being near Dau Tieng reservoir, the communes of Cau Khoi, Duong Minh Chau, and Tan Dong stand out as promising destinations poised to attract tourists and investors alike.

Duong Minh Chau Commune embraces part of Dau Tieng reservoir, offering a scenic setting ideal for eco-tourism development.
Cau Khoi Commune - Land of heroic memories, field of the future
Cau Khoi Commune, Tay Ninh Province, was established through the merger of three former administrative units: Cau Khoi, Phuoc Ninh, and the remaining part of Cha La Commune (Duong Minh Chau District). Covering an area of 90.51 km² and home to over 25,000 residents, the commune occupies a strategic location that connects key economic corridors in the southeastern region of the province.
With its fertile basalt soil, the area has long been a specialized farming zone producing key agricultural goods such as rubber, rice, vegetables, and fruit trees. Supported by an improved irrigation system, local farmers are boldly transitioning to organic farming and adopting high-tech agricultural models, significantly increasing the value of their produce. The commune’s inter-village transport infrastructure has been comprehensively upgraded, paving the way for the development of agricultural support services.
Cau Khoi is also rich in revolutionary traditions. During wartime, it served as a strategic gateway protecting the Duong Minh Chau revolutionary base. These memories are still preserved through historical landmarks and the stories passed down by local generations.
Cau Khoi Commune is striving to become an advanced new rural area through comprehensive development. Thanks to its proximity to rapidly growing neighboring communes, it holds strong potential to evolve into a key agricultural transit hub, contributing to the transformation of Tay Ninh’s traditional rural landscape.
Duong Minh Chau Commune – A precious gem by Dau Tieng reservoir
The newly established Duong Minh Chau Commune is a distinctive administrative unit formed by merging Duong Minh Chau town, the remaining parts of Phan and Suoi Da communes, and the water surface area of Dau Tieng reservoir formerly belonging to Phuoc Minh Commune. Covering a natural area of 177.15 km² and home to 35,878 residents, the commune boasts a unique geographical position, embracing part of Vietnam’s largest artificial lake.
Its natural conditions are diverse, including fertile agricultural land, a vast aquatic ecosystem, and low hills. These features support a rich cultural mosaic shaped by the various communities that inhabit the area. Economically, the commune thrives in agriculture, particularly in rubber, cassava, and fruit crops. Along the reservoir’s edge, aquaculture flourishes, offering an abundant supply of fresh produce.
Duong Minh Chau Commune holds the greatest potential for eco-tourism, thanks to its picturesque natural landscapes, lakeside attractions, and abundant historical relics. The local culture is deeply rooted in tradition, showcased through vibrant festivals and distinctive architectural landmarks.
With infrastructure being continuously improved to support daily life and socio-economic development, the commune is well-positioned to “take off”. Its future looks especially bright in eco-tourism, high-tech agriculture, and sustainable economic exploitation of lakeside potential.
Tan Dong Commune - A border region with promising trade potential
The newly established Tan Dong Commune was formed through the merger of Tan Ha Commune and the former Tan Dong Commune. Strategically located along the border with the Kingdom of Cambodia, this area holds a pivotal position as a gateway for cross-border trade and economic cooperation. Covering a natural area of 134.32 km² and home to a population of 27,582, Tan Dong benefits from diverse natural resources, including expansive agricultural land, a network of rivers, and border forests.
Economically, the commune has strong advantages in agriculture, particularly in the cultivation of rubber, cassava, and fruit trees. In addition, the border location supports the development of livestock farming and cross-border trade, contributing to enhanced economic exchange with neighboring countries. Thanks to its strategic position, the commune holds significant potential for developing logistics services to facilitate import and export activities.
Tan Dong’s cultural identity is marked by traditional festivals and emblematic architecture, reflecting the resilience and unity of its people through both wartime and peacetime. Its infrastructure is gradually being upgraded to enhance living standards and lay the foundation for sustained economic growth.
Looking ahead, Tan Dong holds great promise, especially in cross-border trade, high-tech agriculture, and commercial services. It is poised to become one of Tay Ninh’s most vibrant and prosperous regions./.
