On June 17, Can Duoc district People's Committee of Long An province organized a conference to implement urgent measures to prevent and control African swine fever (ASF).

According to the report of the Steering Committee on epidemic prevention and control, People's Committees of communes and towns, the prevention and control of ASF is being implemented urgently. All pig farms are sprayed with disinfectant. Pigs in the area are fully vaccinated to prevent epidemic, livestock households strictly follow the regulations on prevention and control of epidemics according to the guide of agricultural sector.
The district Steering Committee for epidemic prevention and control coordinates with functional branches and leaders of communes to determine the location for burying pigs relating to epidemic outbreak. The district established a quarantine station in Cau Noi area, Phuoc Dong commune (Highway 50, the location adjacent to Tien Giang province) to check vehicles transporting pigs through the district, and so on.
Chairman of the district People's Committee - Huynh Van Quang Hung asked leaders of districts, leaders of communes and towns to focus strictly on the direction of the Central and the province, and the district People's Committee plan on the prevention and control of ASF. Communes must immediately set up quick response teams to promptly handle epidemics, veterinary forces must closely grasp the localities to promptly detect cases of sick pigs dead and propose measures to handle and enhance inspection buying and selling pork in markets. At the same time, people are strongly promoted propaganda to understand the epidemic situation and measures to prevent. We do not let people panic.
The Chairman of the district People's Committee affirmed that heads of units and leaders of communes and townships are responsible to the district People's Committee if they do not strictly implement the epidemic response plan and let bad epidemic situations spreading in the area./.
