Efforts to retain workers

The labor market in Long An province has become more active after Tet with many positive signals. Authorities at all levels have been implementing many solutions to stabilize the labor market. At the same time, many enterprises have quickly started up, boosted production and business, and made efforts to retain workers.

The labor market after Tet has positive signs with about 95% of workers returning to work

Creating motivation for workers to stick with enterprises

After Tet, about 95% of workers returned to work, equivalent to 355,870 workers, without labor shortages, strikes or work stoppages.

Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs - Nguyen Dai Tanh commented: “In general, the labor market quickly stabilized. Most enterprises ensure salary, bonus, welfare and other support policies for workers. The high rate of workers returning to work shows the stability of the province's labor market”.

One of the practical activities that helps workers feel secure in their work and stay with the company is the attention and care of the Trade Unions at all levels. Previously, in order to support union members and workers in difficult circumstances who have not had the opportunity to return to their hometowns for Tet for many years, the Provincial Federation of Labor organized many practical programs. Typically, free flights, trains and shuttle buses helped thousands of workers return to reunite with their families and return to work on time.

Specifically, the Union Flight - Spring 2025 program supported 50 air tickets for workers from the northern provinces, while the Union Train - Spring 2025 provided 250 train tickets for workers from Da Nang and beyond. In particular, the Union Bus Trip - Spring 2025 program supported 1,200 tickets and organized 25 trips back to their hometowns along National Highway 1 to help workers celebrate Tet with peace of mind.

Not only supporting means of transportation, the Provincial Federation of Labor also cares about the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers in difficult circumstances. The unit visited, encouraged and presented 250 gifts, each worth 1 million VND, to workers in Kien Tuong town and the districts of Thu Thua, Thanh Hoa, and Tan Thanh.

In addition, 96 gifts worth 500,000 VND/gift were also given to union members at Chung Shing Vina Company Limited. This not only contributes to motivating employees to stay with the company for a long time, but also demonstrates the sense of responsibility and companionship of the trade union organization in taking care of the lives of employees, contributing to stabilizing and developing the labor market.

Efforts to retain employees

At Le Nam Production, Trade and Service Company Limited (Duc Hoa district), the human resource situation is stable thanks to the policies supporting employees. The company currently has more than 450 employees. After Tet, although there were changes in personnel, most of them were new employees who had not been working for long.

The manager and Chairman of the Trade Union of Le Nam Production, Trade and Service Company Limited - Tran Thi Ngoc Phuong said that those who did not return to work after Tet all had legitimate reasons and had completed the resignation procedures in advance.

Although there were times when there was a shortage of employees, the company had an effective backup plan. The company uses internal human resources from other departments - people who have been trained in using machinery and production lines to be ready to replace the missing workers. Thanks to that, the production and business process is guaranteed.

To attract workers, the company posts recruitment information on mass media, hangs banners and goes directly to secondary schools, colleges and universities with suitable majors to recruit.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Phuong added that despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the company still maintains welfare policies, helping workers feel secure in their work such as annual salary increases based on seniority; bonuses on holidays and Tet; support for diplomas for skilled workers (support level depends on qualifications); free training for unskilled workers (still receive 100% salary and receive additional monthly attendance allowance); free annual tours for employees with 1 year or more of seniority; etc.

Ms. Nhu Thi Quyen - employee of Le Nam Production, Trade and Service Co., Ltd., shared: “Having worked for Le Nam Company for many years, I feel very secure working here. The company ensures full salary and bonus regimes, has good treatment policies and cares about the spiritual life of employees. A stable working environment and good welfare regime are the reasons why I want to stay with the company for a long time”.

In addition to caring about treatment regimes, the company also focuses on the spiritual life of employees. From the end of June 2024, Le Nam Production, Trade and Service Co., Ltd., in coordination with the grassroots Trade Union, has implemented the model of Employee Cultural and Entertainment Corner. Here, employees can read literary books, including many classic works of the world.

In addition, poeple can look up important information about labor, employment, social insurance, unemployment insurance and policies through the visual information board. This is also a place to store images of the activities of the grassroots trade union and the development journey of the company.

Due to the stable production situation and orders after Tet, Thu Duc - Long An Centrifugal Concrete Joint Stock Company (Ben Luc district) temporarily does not focus on recruiting new workers. Chairman of the Company's grassroots trade union - Ngo Truong Huy said: "The company always cares about the lives of workers with many practical activities. Therefore, in parallel with preparing for the next orders, the company also prioritizes implementing policies to retain existing workers".

For more than 10 years, the company's grassroots union has maintained a policy of supporting tuition fees for union members' children from grade 1 to grade 12, with a level of 800,000-1.2 million VND/child/year.

Every year, the union organizes 2-5 day tours for employees depending on the work situation or tourist destination. On holidays, New Year, and anniversaries, the grassroots union organizes many exchange and entertainment activities to help employees relax and have more motivation to complete their work.

The company also organizes Tet gifts for all employees, each gift is about 1 million VND in cash and 350,000-500,000 VND in gifts. To facilitate workers in difficult circumstances to return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet, the company supports transportation and mobilizes benefactors to support 1.5 million VND for workers in difficulty after Tet. Thanks to that, workers have more motivation to stick with the company.

The efforts from the companies and all levels and sectors not only help workers feel secure in their work and stick with their companies for a long time, but also contribute significantly to the sustainable development of the provincial labor market./.
