Former President, Standing Deputy PM attend ceremony to rename school

Former President Truong Tan Sang and Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and the Long An Party Secretary cum Chairman of People’s Council Pham Van Ranh attended ceremony to rename a school on January 28.

The province’s Duc Hoa District organized a ceremony to change Junior High School Huu Thanh into Junior High School Le Quang Tham in order to keep his service to the country generally and the district particularly in contributing to educate young generations.

The school was established in 1993 and recognized as national-level school in 2013. At present, the school has 12 classrooms, 5 special rooms with 14 classes and 560 students. It has gained accomplishment in teaching learning.

Mr. Le Quang Tham was born in 1931 in Huu Thanh Commune in Duc Hoa District. He used to be the Long An Deputy Party Secretary, the Long An Chairman of the province’s People’s Committee, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Governmental Inspector, deputy of the National Assembly session VII and VIII. He was head of the group of Duc Hoa residents in Ho Chi Minh City calling for contribution of hundreds of billion for the district’s growth.

On the occasion, Mr. Tham’s family presented 20 scholarships to good students from low-income families each worth VND1 million including cash and studying equipment. Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Police newspaper in HCMC senior lieutenant-colonel, writer Bui Anh Tan gave VND50 million to the school manager./.
