Diversifying the market
Long An Chanh Viet Trading and Investment Joint Stock Company (Thanh Loi Commune, Ben Luc District, Long An Province) and Long An Food Company are 2 of 30 enterprises supported by the Department of Science and Technology to improve productivity and quality of products and goods in 2023. The above two enterprises are supported and consulted to develop standards to complete Halal certification. To date, both enterprises have completed the assessment and been granted Halal certification.
Long An Food Company is under the Southern Food Corporation, operating in the field of food processing for export and domestic sales with the task of stabilizing the market.
Deputy Director of Long An Food Company - Nguyen Minh Viet said that in the first months of 2024, the world's rice supply continued to narrow due to unfavorable weather conditions. On the other hand, many countries increased their rice reserves during the year, creating conditions for Vietnam's rice exports to increase in quantity and keep export prices high. With these advantages, the Company strives to maintain traditional customers over the years such as Malaysia, Ghana, Indonesia, Singapore, etc.
In addition, the Company continues to seek for new customers in the fierce competition of the domestic and foreign markets. Accordingly, in 2024, the Company's plan is to sell 180,000 tons to the market, by the end of October 2024, the Company completed and exceeded the set plan. Of which, 80% of the output is for export, 20% for the domestic market.
Long An Food Company's rice products are now Halal certified
Rice is one of the important sources of nutrition in people's daily meals. For the Muslim community, the use of rice requires compliance with Halal standards to ensure safety and meet nutritional needs. To be Halal certified, the Company's rice products must fully comply with production processes to ensure that ingredients, technology, production equipment, means of transportation, preservation and product quality monitoring are in accordance with Halal standards.
To maintain raw material sources and ensure quality for business operations, the Company has built a raw material area of about 250 hectares in Tuyen Thanh commune, Kien Tuong town. Recently, the Company signed a contract to participate in the Project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030" in the province.
With the Halal certification, the Company can demonstrate the quality and reputation of the product, gradually affirming its position in the Vietnamese rice market and the Muslim community. Right after achieving Halal certification, the Company received the first export orders to small islands of Indonesia, where there is a large Muslim community. Thereby, the Company expects to export more rice to this market in the coming time, contributing significantly to promoting food consumption, creating sustainable livelihoods for farmers, ensuring national food security and supplying quality products to the world.
Chanh Viet Company was established in 2012 with the desire to bring agricultural products to domestic and foreign markets. Accordingly, the Company cooperates with farmers to invest, improve land and apply technology - techniques to create lime gardens. Currently, Chanh Viet Company and farmers have thousands of hectares of seedless lime. After being researched and tested to suit the local climate and soil, the lime seedlings were selected by the Company and brought to farmers in Thanh Loi commune, Ben Luc district. During the cultivation process, Chanh Viet Company focuses on instructing farmers on cultivation techniques, fertilizers, and pesticides according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. The advantage of the lime gardens in Thanh Loi commune is that the State has fully invested in the irrigation system. Particularly at Chanh Viet Farm, in addition to the irrigation system, the internal road, electricity, and automatic irrigation systems are also invested to serve production needs.
