Long An collects opinions on establishing Association of Rice Export Enterprises

Deputy Director of DoIT - Duong Van Hoang Hoanh said that the working session aimed to receive enterprises’ opinions on establishing Long An Association of REE

Representatives of some localities, departments, sectors, State Bank of Vietnam - Branch of Long An province, enterprises, cooperatives exporting rice in the attended the working session.

Deputy Director of DoIT - Duong Van Hoang Hoanh informed that the working session aimed to receive enterprises’ opinions on establishing the Long An Association of REE. The goal of establishing the Association is to allow businesses to have a common voice in terms of purchasing prices as well as export, sharing stable raw material areas to serve long-term production and business of enterprises. Through this cooperation, farmers and enterprises produce quality goods and increase the value of goods.

At the meeting, representatives of local leaders, enterprises and cooperatives agreed to promote the establishment of the Association of REE. Currently, the REE do not have any agreements and consensus in the price for buying farmers’ rice in Long An province as well as many other provinces and cities.

In addition, enterprises still compete in buying and selling in both domestic and international markets, therefore the export price of rice has decreased continuously over the past time.

Enterprises will be more convenient, agree on the purchasing and selling price to foreign markets, contributing to increase the value of rice when the Association is established

Deputy Director of DARD - Nguyen Chi Thien shared that most of the opinions agreed to necessarily establish the Association as an encouraging signal. When the Association is established, it will be more convenient and unified in terms of buying and selling price to foreign markets, contributing to increase the value of rice. Through that, enterprises will link with farmers in the value chain from production to consumption as well as quality control and quantity consumption. Then, farmers are supported to consume rice with the most optimal price and get the highest profit.

In addition to the agreement to soon establish the Association, the delegates also participated in the meeting to express their opinions on its members, size and specific name. Through these comments, Mr. Duong Van Hoang Hoanh received and said that the DoIT continues to coordinate with other departments and agencies to continue to collect and prepare the next steps to soon establish the Association./.
