Long An: Forces 389 seized over 656,000 packages of smuggled cigarettes in 4 months

It is determined that smuggling activities on the border line still took place. However, it is no longer complicated because the functional forces basically control and curb smuggling activities. Smugglers hire people to carry goods across the border line and then use cars and trucks to transport these goods further into the inland and consume them in neighboring provinces.

Typical arrested cases of smuggled cigarettes were that Market Management Team No.1 (under Market Management Department of Long An Province) arrested cars transporting 8,400 packages of foreign cigarettes on Provincial road 830 in Huu Thanh commune, Duc Hoa district on April 4.

Also in April 2019, the Provincial Border Guard forces organized patrols, found 4 violations of smuggling, seized 12,550 packages of foreign cigarettes; Provincial police forces discovered and seized 119,225 packages of foreign cigarettes; Market Management Teams under the Market Management Department seized 11,945 packages of foreign cigarettes.

In the coming time, Steering Committee 389 requires forces to continue implementing the contents of anti-smuggling plans effectively. Particularly, they focus on identifying smugglers, goods, locations and key items to build plans for inspection and check to limit the smuggling of cigarettes as well as selling smuggled cigarettes in the province./.
