Member of Central Vietnam Farmers’ Association in charge of the South - Pham Minh Hung highly appreciated the active prevention and control of ASF in Long An province over the past time
Member of the Central Standing Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association in charge of the South - Pham Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association - Tran Quoc Toan, and 300 representatives of localities and Farmers' Association of districts, towns and city; shops selling safe food; pig farms, slaughterhouses, animal-feeding dealers, small businesses, supermarkets and consumers.
The program aims to promote propaganda and dissemination of knowledge and raise awareness of officials and members of farmers, and women’s members in production and trade of safe food; raising responsibility awareness of producers and businessmen to ensure food safety and protect consumers' health.
Also, consumers should be avoided confusion and signs of turning away from pork products, causing economic damage to farmers.
At present, African swine fever (ASF) has occurred in 24 northern provinces and cities, causing damage to many pig farms and households across the country.
Long An strictly controls the source of pork before selling to the market
According to Long An Farmers' Association, this activity also aimed at promoting propaganda to farmers and consumers in the province about ASF and stating the dangers, transmission and active measures to prevent epidemics. This helps farmers not bewildered. Simultaneously, consumers are provided sufficient information to identify safe pork, not let them lack of knowledge and affected by false rumors so they turn away from pork that has been quarantined by veterinary agencies.
At the conference, Mr. Pham Minh Hung highly appreciated the work of active prevention and fighting against ASF in Long An province over the past time. He suggested that the locality should strengthen propaganda for farmers in a safe way and create clean products so that consumers feel secure to use.
Especially, the Farmers' Association of districts, towns and cities coordinated with the functional branches, local unions and mass media agencies to regularly propagate to officials, union members, membership and families, relatives must comply with regulations on disease control, food safety in the production and supply of pork products to the market; propagate consumers to confidently use safe pork products from reliable addresses, controlled by functional agencies, especially products with strict production processes, possibly traceability./.
