According to Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh, this outbreak may not be the first one in the commune. Disease will spread quickly unless it is detected and handled promptly.

At present, the neighboring communes have a large herd of pigs. Therefore, the Agricultural sector asked the local authorities to accurately checks the total number of pigs of each household in the whole district, immediately establishes the commune-level Steering Committee for epidemic prevention and control, strengthens the monitoring of epidemics in within 3 kilometers as well as immediately culls in case of detection of any signs of illness in pigs.

At the same time, the authorities have to focus on propagating and announcing hotlines for reporting diseases on the media to people.

The risk of spreading African swine fever from Duc Hoa Thuong commune to neighboring communes is very high

If there are no veterinarians, local authorities assign officials to supervise diseases in the area, strengthen surveillance and disinfection in areas where epidemics are at risk.

Up to now, in the Mekong River Delta, Long An is the 12th province where the ASF epidemic has occurred. Ben Tre is the only province that has not yet detected the epidemic./.
