In comparison with 2021, the disease situation on cattle and poultry in 2022 decreased significantly, especially African swine fever and skin rash on cattle. The free and fee-for-service vaccination activities generally achieved the set plan. In 2022, the whole province had no death due to dog and cat bites.

The Agriculture sector promptly advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue guiding documents and implement quality management and food safety. In particular, the province promptly advised and solved food safety incidents (solving 3 warnings about food safety from export markets of China, EU,etc).

The work of information and propaganda on the quality of agricultural materials and food safety continued to be implemented, contributing to raising the sense of responsibility of the people, production and business establishments of agricultural materials and agricultural, forestry and fisheries products, etc.

The conference is held online

Beside the achieved results, the veterinary forces at the commune level is lacking, have to tomulti-tasking, do not have veterinary expertise; vaccination work in some localities has not been done well.

The illegal import of cattle (buffaloes, cows, etc) and poutry from Cambodia poses a high risk of disease spread and food safety. The management of slaughterhouses in the province is still limited, some stages of quarantine and slaughter control are omitted and not guaranteed.

At the conference, the delegates listened to reports and presentations from a number of localities on the management of food safety in agriculture, forestry and fishery; prevention and control of rabies on dogs and cats;etc.

According to the ranking results of localities on food safety management for agriculture, forestry and fishery in 2022, Long An ranks fifth in the country, an increase of 6 places compared to 2021. The conference also announced the evaluation results, ranking of localities in the province. Accordingly, there are 8 localities classified in the group of good implementation and 7 localities in the group of qualified implementation.

Cleaning, disinfection and decontamination work are timely implemented

At the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam suggested provincial departments, branches and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to overcome the shortcomings and limitations; seriously and effectively implement the documents of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee.

All the units have to pay attention to and prioritize the allocation of resources (staff, funding); renovate the propaganda work; promptly coordinate to handle food safety incidents, negotiate and resolve technical barriers to expand domestic and international agricultural, forestry and fishery consumption markets; proactively supervise, inspect to promptly detect and strictly handle cases of violations of regulations on quality and food safety;etc./.
