Tay Ninh strengthens monitoring of surface water quality

In order to protect water resources and prevent pollution risks, Tay Ninh province has synchronously deployed many monitoring measures, from installing automatic monitoring systems to implementing large-scale periodic monitoring programmes.

Sampling water quality in rivers and canals

According to Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Vo Minh Thanh, the entire Tay Ninh province has installed 9 automatic and continuous surface water monitoring stations (old Long An has 3 stations, old Tay Ninh has 6 stations).

These stations allow for the collection and transmission of real-time water quality data, helping authorities promptly detect abnormalities.

At the same time, a periodic monitoring program is also maintained at 118 locations on main rivers and canals (68 locations in the old Long An, 50 locations in the old Tay Ninh) to monitor changes in the water environment, control and prevent sources of waste that can cause pollution.

Monitoring results show that surface water quality at most locations is within the permissible standard limits. However, there are still some canals that are silted up, with many obstacles such as trash, weeds, water hyacinth, etc., obstructing the flow, limiting drainage capacity and causing local pollution. These are potential risks that affect agricultural production and people's lives.

The province pays special attention to protecting surface water resources

In the coming time, the province will continue to maintain and upgrade the monitoring system, and coordinate with localities to promote dredging, clearing flows, and treating waste on rivers and canals.

At the same time, propaganda work and raising public awareness about water environment protection are also focused on, aiming to mobilize people's participation in preserving and improving water quality./.
