The growth of renewable electricity in Long An

Long An currently has 8 completed commercial power plant projects

For renewable energy projects, up to now, the province has 8 completed commercial power plant projects with a total capacity of 440,1MWp on an area of 494,8 hectares. Besides, there is 1 project under construction (TTC Duc Hue 2, capacity of 49MWp). Currently, the province has 10 projects that have been appraised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade but have not yet been supplemented in Power Development Plan (Total capacity of 1,180 MWp). Only in the first 2 months of 2023, the total amount of electricity generated from 8 solar energy projects was 99,181,859 kWh.

Besides, Long An also develops many rooftop solar power projects. Up to now, the electricity industry has accepted, energised and signed power purchase contracts with 2,598 customers, with a total capacity of 515.15 MWp.

Currently, Long An I, II LNG Thermal Power Plant Project (Can Giuoc District) has been granted an investment registration certificate by the Provincial People's Committee (total capacity of 3,000MW, an area of 85 hectares), which is preparing investment procedures as prescribed.

Thanh Hoa waste incineration project (Tam Sinh Nghia power generation plant - Long An) has been invested and is being implemented, with a capacity of 500 tons of domestic waste per day to be transfered into energy in the form of electricity (capacity of 10 MW).

The Long An Province Biomass Power Plant Project, whose investor is a joint venture between T&T Group Joint Stock Company and Erex Group, was surveyed to find potential locations to build a biomass power plant of about 100MW in the locality to supplement the planning. In addition, the consortium of Hoan Cau Long An Company Limited and Hoang Gia Vietnam Investment Group Joint Stock Company proposed a wind power project with a capacity of 500MW./.
