Twenty-three press works across the nation have been announced as the winners of the 2018 National Press Award for Youth Movement.

The organisers present the first prize for authors of the winning press works on youth movements in 2018

The award ceremony was held by the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Hanoi on June 17.

The annual event aims to encourage journalists to reflect on the liveliness of youth movements nationwide, as well as calling for attention from the relevant authorities at all levels to the education, training and promotion of the younger generations.

This year, the organising board received 528 entries (up 27% from 2017), including 433 printed and electronic publications; 45 TV productions; 25 radio works; and 25 press photos published from June 1, 2017 to May 15, 2018.

The jury selected 23 outstanding publications to be awarded prizes, including two first prizes, namely the series "Good news spread on social networks every day" (Thanh Nien Newspaper) and a long-form article “Losing eyes but not losing everything"(Tuoi Tre Newspaper); as well as five second prizes; seven third prizes; and nine consolation prizes.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Secretary of the Central Youth Union, and Head of the Organising Committee, said that the works in this year's competition are comprehensive and diversified, while reflecting the youth movements and the Youth Union activities from the central to grassroots level.

In particular, the press works conveyed the multidimensional nature of social life and the practice of Youth Unions, helping to identify the typical examples of youth, good models, and new effective ways in youth movements, thus encouraging youngsters to actively participate in national socio-economic development./.
