Vietnamese farm produce showcased at world's largest wholesale market

The opening ceremony saw the presence of Chairman of Hanoi municipal People's Committee, Nguyen Duc Chung, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Thiep, CEO of Rungis International Market, Stéphane Layani, and French leading groups along with 30 Vietnamese enterprises.

Vietnamese enterprises introduced French and European customers to a number of Vietnam’s key farm products including mangoes, dragon fruit, lychees, lemons, grapefruit, coconuts, rambutans and a range of vegetables and spices including pepper, chilli, ginger, garlic, turmeric, and cinnamon.

Processed products including dried fruits and canned fruits alongside rice, cashew nuts, tea and coffee are also on show at the market.

Chairman of Hanoi municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that Hanoi wished to coordinate with Semmaris in building a wholesale market for fresh produce in Hanoi based on the operation model of Rungis market, adding that the model is suitable for the current situation in Vietnam.

"We hope that the project will be swiftly implemented as it will be an opportunity for French and European firms to bring their products to the market of the 90 million population of Vietnam and ASEAN countries. On the other hand, the door of Rungis market will open for fresh farm produce of Vietnam to enter French and European markets," Chung said.

Customers learn about Vietnamese products at the event

This is the first time that the Vietnam Agricultural Products Week has been held at Rungis International Market, the world's largest wholefood market, which gathers farm produce from a large number of countries across the world.

CEO of Rungis International Market Stéphane Layani expressed his belief that Vietnamese farm produce will gain a promising segment in France and Europe thanks to its great quality and taste./.
