Vu A Dinh award ceremony
Lauding the fund’s activities, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Le Quoc Phong underlined that Vu A Dinh scholarships have helped impoverished ethnic students realise their dreams and become good citizens to the society.
On the occasion, the Vu A Dinh awards were presented to nine organisations and 13 individuals, recognising their contributions to the development of the mountainous regions and ethnic minority groups.
At the event, domestic and foreign businesses and benefactors donated nearly VND55 billion (US$2.42 million) to the scholarship fund.
The fund also presented 3,000 scholarships to children of naval officers and fishermen in localities affected by natural disasters. Eleven houses were built for.
The Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, named after a young liaison officer killed during the French resistance war, was set up in 1999 by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to support poor ethnic students in their study./.
