On July 1, Long An People's Committee held a conference to review the prevention and combat of smuggling, trade frauds and fake goods in the first 6 months of 2020 and deploy the tasks in the last 6 months of the year. According to a report of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, the Provincial People's Committee promptly implemented the directive documents of the Government, the Prime Minister, the National 389 Steering Committee on prevention and fight of smuggling, commercial fraud, fake goods, prevention and control of Covid-19 disease in the first 6 months of the year.
According to the statistics of the provincial Steering Committee 389, the authorities have inspected 4,018 cases, through checking and detecting 1,563 violations in the first 6 months of 2020. In particular, there were 702 cases of transporting smuggled goods, 11 cases of poor quality goods, 15 cases of counterfeit goods, 9 cases of quality fake goods and 826 cases of commercial fraud; collected and seized over 1.6 million packs of foreign cigarettes, 37.7 tons of sugar, 241 motorcycles and 43 cars. After handling, the authorities have issued decisions to sanction administrative violations, confiscated sales and fines, collected tax arrears with a total amount of nearly 155 billion VND.

According to the assessment of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, through the implementation, synchronous and drastic implementation of measures, smuggling activities on the border of the province are controlled, curbed and reduced, they no longer complicated as years ago. The smuggling and transporting people continue to be propagated and mobilized by local authorities, departments, and mass organizations to create conditions for jobs to bring stable incomes. In the domestic market, the trading of banned goods and smuggled goods has also been intensified by sectors and localities, so there is no public trading.
However, at present, localities believed that the handling of smuggled imported cigarettes is seized by the competent forces in cases of difficulties in warehouses, temporary storage and handling. Since then, localities have proposed this, the provincial Steering Committee 389 have consulted with the Central Government about the early issuance of documents guiding the handling of smuggled cigarettes after the expiration of the Prime Minister's Decision No. 20 implemented from June 15, 2020.
At the same time, some border localities also said that functional agencies should strengthen the coordination in the prevention and control of smuggling activities, especially the smuggling of pigs, which have tended to be complicated recently.
