Long An: 316 cooperatives expected to establish by the end of term 2020-2025

Over the past years, the collective economic sector and cooperatives in the province have had positive changes, contributing to social security, grassroots political stability and positive contributions to socio-economic development of many localities.

Up to now, the province has 225 cooperatives with 41,463 members, including 197 cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector; 5 cooperatives operating in the industry, small scale industry; 3 construction Cooperatives; 22 transport cooperatives; 3 trade - service cooperatives; 3 cooperatives operating in other fields and 19 People's Credit Funds.

Generally, in the past term, the collective economy, cooperatives have had new developments; cooperatives increase investment in facilities and techniques, renew equipment, improve production and business efficiency, and increase labor productivity. Cooperative production activities meet the economic, life and social needs of members, workers and local communities, contributing to building a new-style rural, gradually asserting its position and key role in the overall economic sector of the province.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Pham Van Canh affirmed: "Over the past years, the model of collective economy and cooperatives has made certain contributions to the overall socio-economic development of the province. The Party and State have always paid attention to collective economy, cooperatives, consider this an important part in the economic development strategy of the country.

In the new term, it is suggested that the Provincial Cooperative Alliance should focus on better performing the assigned tasks; proposing measures to realize the goals in the period 2020 - 2025; continuing to promote the core role in developing collective economy, cooperatives; promote the building of a strong provincial Cooperative Alliance, effectively perform the function of representing, protect the legal rights of members and focus on implementing breakthrough tasks, solutions, directing all activities and resources for developming collective economy, cooperatives, etc.

The provincial Cooperative Alliance must be the bridge between the collective economic sector, the cooperatives and the functional agencies, the Provincial People's Committee. It will develop cooperatives without basing on the number of cooperatives, but focusing on the cooperatives that develop effectively and exploit the potentials and strengths of the province, etc.".

With the slogan "Cooperation - Innovation - Development - Efficiency", the Congress passed the Resolution of Congress, session V (term 2020 - 2025) of Provincial Cooperative Alliance including a number of specific targets and tasks, in which it focuses on the important targets and tasks: Every year, a new establishment focuses on quality and sustainable operation, not chasing the quantity; By the end of the term, the Cooperative Alliance strives to reach 316 cooperatives in the whole province; it strives in the term to establish 1 Cooperative Union; Each year, 20 news and articles about collective economy and cooperatives are published on news agencies and newspapers, it regularly opens propaganda classes to communes, wards, townlets and cities.

Each year, Cooperative Alliance organizes at least 3 training courses to improve the capacity and professional qualifications for managers, workers and cooperative members to improve knowledge about collective economy for Cooperative managers and staff in charge of collective economy.

At the same time, by 2025, the capital scale of the Cooperative Development Assistance Fund reaches 40 billion VND, it supports over 130 members to borrow capital; Cooperative Alliance continues to build 16 pilot cooperatives and 4 typical cooperatives of the province in the next period to help the cooperatives operate effectively, create and develop strong local products; etc.

At the congress, 4 collectives and 6 individuals received Certificate of Merit of the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in the movement of emulation and developing collective economy in the period 2013-2020./.
