The province's socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year has improved

In particular, the economic growth rate in the first 6 months of 2024 reached 5.26%, the highest since 2021 (all 3 sectors are increasing). State budget collection achieved quite good results, reaching 14,300 billion VND,  67% of the estimate assigned by the province, an increase of nearly 1.5 times over the same period.

In particular, with efforts to restore the economy, reform administration, synchronously implement support solutions and remove difficulties for businesses and investors, the province had a breakthrough when it rose to the 2nd position out of 63 provinces and cities on the PCI rankings in 2023.

The province focuses on basic construction work

Regarding the Provincial Green Index (PGI) 2023, Long An also has a breakthrough when it increases by 16 places compared to 2022 and ranks 12th/63 provinces and cities, etc.

In the first 6 months of the year, the province started many industrial and commercial projects with large investment capital, expected to create motivation to promote the province's economic growth. Compensation, site clearance and resettlement work achieved quite good results. Import and export activities of goods continued to prosper and achieved positive results, reaching 6.2 billion USD; Of which, exports reached 3.8 billion USD, an increase of 16.5%, imports reached 2.4 billion USD, an increase of 17.2% over the same period, etc.

At the conference, the Provincial Party Committee also frankly acknowledged that although the socio-economic situation achieved comprehensive results, the growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) and the scale of the economy tended to increase slowly compared to other provinces and cities in the region and the whole country. The progress of implementing investment projects, especially large and important projects and industrial park and cluster projects, is slow. Drought, salinity, and heat are severe, affecting production and people's lives, etc.

Party committees at all levels must continue to promote the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system. In particular, it is necessary to focus on preparing for Party Congresses at all levels, term 2025 - 2030, paying attention to reviewing planning for young officials and female officials; etc.
