Long An beefs up Party’s leadership on health insurance

The Party Committee in the Mekong delta province of Long An March 21 held a meeting to review five -year implementation of the Politburo’s resolution No. 21- NQ/TW on the Party’s leadership on social and health insurance for the period 2012-2020.

Through five years, there have been changes in the party and local administrations’ awareness of the task of social and health insurance. Policies of social and health insurance really get into people’s life gradually affirming its role in the country’s social welfare policies.

By the end of 2017, the province had 580,000 social and unemployment insurance; however, the number of voluntary social insurance was 736 and medical insurance holder were 1.2  million accounting for 84.27 percent of the province’s whole population.

Asides from that, at the meeting, participants pointed out some remaining problems such as the low number of voluntary medical buyers, firms that slowly pay for employees’ insurance, incompetent medical centers and shortage of personnel for appraising.

Deputy Party Chief Do Huu Lam ordered agencies and departments to enhance information of social and health insurance policies as well as issue severe punishment for firms that evaded paying insurance. Moreover, agencies must improve administrative procedures and adopt IT in management to raise service quality.

Along with this, agencies must take heed to train state employees in encouraging residents in localities to buy insurrance.
