Long An: Export turnover reaches about 1,400 million USD in QI/2020, up 6 percent
Long An Department of Industry and Trade informed that export turnover in the first quarter of 2020 reached 1,400 million USD, up 6 percent; Import turnover reached about 910 million USD, down 7 percent over the same period.
Export turnover in the first quarter decreased, including footwear
Information from the Long An Department of Industry and Trade, export turnover in the first quarter of 2020 reached 1,400 million USD, up 6 percent over the same period in 2019. In particular, the main export items include rice (reaching 139,600 tons, reaching 62,3 million USD, up 20.6 percent in quantity and up 19.2 percent in value); fishery (55 million USD, up 8 percent); textile and garment (380 million USD, up 10 percent); mechanical engineering – accumulator battery - iron and steel (reaching 160 million USD, up 5 percent over the same period); cashew nuts (estimated at 7 million USD, down 46 percent); footwear (220 million USD, down 4 percent).
Enterprises import many items, including raw materials for textile industry
Import turnover reached about 910 million USD, down 7 percent over the same period. Imported goods are mainly raw materials for production such as cotton, fiber, plastic, paper, wood, chemicals, iron and steel, textile materials, etc.
Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Le Minh Duc said that the Covid-19 disease greatly affected the situation of production, business, import and export of enterprises. Currently, the department has implemented many measures to support businesses such as consulting enterprises to manufacture face masks; providing information on enterprises producing and supplying face masks, hand-washing water, chemicals, insecticidal preparations, and so on to prevent and control Covid-19 epidemic.
In addition, the department continues to review the needs of businesses to organize a program to connect products for the textile and footwear industry and so on for businesses to find domestic raw materials or find partners from many other countries to ensure continuous production, achieve business plans, contribute to the province to increase production value in the field of industry./.
