Long An launches action month on food safety

Long An province People’s Committee launched action month on food safety themed “Raising food manufacturers’ responsibility & awareness” on April 17 at Kien Tuong town.

Businesses, traders, manufacturers pledge to take part in action month on food safety

In 2017, four food poisoning cases happened in the province suffering 112 people. Inspectors reported 25 percent of tested food samples did not meet the conditions of quality and food safety in line with the regulation.

The cause was because most materials did not have clear origin and brand name, and were used many chemical substances, banned substances…

In order to raise awareness in the community, businesses, traders, manufacturers in ensuring food safety, doctor Huynh Minh Phuc, deputy director of Department of Health said the departments of health and agriculture & rural development, trade & industry and People’s Committee of districts, communes, cities would popularize, give guidance, information on food safety, regulations, knowledge of food safety, hygiene to people, manufacturers, businesses, traders in the market. Besides, they would strengthen inspecting to manufactories; companies and shops cross over the province.

Businesses, traders, manufacturers must take responsibilities for food safety to their own products and consumers need enhancing knowledge about food safety to protect their health./.
