Long An’s CPI decreases 0.25% in March

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the southern province of Long An in March decreased by 0.25 percent from the previous month.

Amongst 11 primary groups of goods and services, only household appliances increased by 0.12 percent.

There were 8 decreased groups. Particularly, food catering services, transportation as well as beverage and cigarette experienced a decrease in the CPI (0.52 percent, 0.47 percent and 0.23 percent respectively).

There was also a fall in the CPI of culture, entertainment and tourism (0.01 percent), telecommunication (0.07 percent), education (0.05 percent) along with electricity, water, gas, housing and construction materials (0.01 percent).

The group of garment & textile and medicine, health care services remained unchanged.

The reason for the drop is a reduction in gas price (4.51 percent) and food price due to the surplus supply and the low demand after the Tet holidays. Also, the drop of the average fuel price (0.98 percent) under the influence of last month’s promotion and flower price (4.79 percent) after a rise in price during Tet holiday is one of the factors leading to this problem./.
